s the not-so-small chance that Biden has confused the real-world mechanical designation of “semi-automatic” with the political concoction of “assault weapons.” I’m skeptical. Anyone who’s involved in the gun debate knows that “semi-automatic” guns, often purposely conflated with the more dangerous “automatic” weapons, are the target of restrictionists. A few years back during that shameful post-Parkland CNN gun “town hall,” the crowd loudly cheered at the suggestion of banning all “semi-automatic” rifles. And, earlier this year, the president suggested that ordinary citizens should be banned from owning popular “high-caliber” 9mm handguns. “So the idea of these high-caliber weapons is of — there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of thinking about self-protection, hunting,” Biden said of the type of gun used by the Secret Service to protect him.
It is, as it always has been in the gun debate, incrementalism. From “no one wants to take your guns” to “we only want to take some of them” and so on. Of course, even if the president really intended to talk about a semi-automatic rifle ban, his goals would still be unconstitutional.

Between 1962 and 1984 the cry from the anti-gun radicals was “We ONLY want to register and ban HANDGUNS! Rifles will not be affected!”
When they failed to ban handguns, when the 1984 McDonald’s shootings in San Ysidro CA, took place, they immediately jumped on the “Ban semi-auto rifles” bandwagon.
Rest assured that if they can get any ban on a rifle they will be back for their original target, HANDGUNS.
The left side of the family was incredulous when I gently explained that neither the semiautomatic AR nor the AK shoot particularly powerful rounds and that, in fact, the AR was not legal for deer hunting in many states.
They were certain such weapons could easily shoot straight through city buildings and kill people on the other side. I explained it might be possible given the right circumstances but it wasn’t something one could rely on.
We can’t afford to NOT be a little paranoid.
Back in 1989 Neal Knox of Gun Week Magazine read and found the first California AW ban act also banned the lever action rifles.
California caught so much hell over it that the lever action part was removed and the act shelved. (I said to friends...”Get ready! Something bad is going to happen!”)
Then the state released seven time loser Pat Purdy from a mental institution, allowed him to buy an AK47/s in violation of Federal laws, and allowed him to buy a handgun, passing the waiting period.
He then went and shot up the Stockton school yard, killing several kids, then killed himself.
The shelved act was pulled out and passed before opposition could be mounted against it.

Are you kidding? Mass killings have skyrocketed since the far left perverts took over and a demented old screwball is shacked up in the White House. Right now, AMERICANS NEED A SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE MORE THAN EVER. They need to be able to protect their families and their neighbors. The cops and the military sure as hell aren’t going to do it.
