Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has returned to the helm of the flailing, woke company to replace the ousted Bob Chapek, who Iger accuses of “killing the soul of the company.” From criticism over the mishandling of the streaming service to astronomical price increases at the parks to cover the losses from COVID to a public fight with FL Governor Ron DeSantis, who was falsely accused of pushing a misrepresented “Don’t say Say” law that had nothing to do with not saying ‘gay,’ but instead, prevented young children up to grade four from being taught about their sexual identity in Florida’s public schools.

Now, the opening of Disney’s newest animated movie that features the first-ever openly gay teenager, “Strange World,” is possibly the worst flop in Disney’s history.

According to the Gateway Pundit, the movie opened to a disappointing $4.2 million on Wednesday and is expected to make less than $24 million in its first five days in theaters. For a movie with an estimated $180 million in production costs, those are worryingly low returns.

According to World of Reel, the film scored a B CinemaScore, the lowest score ever for a Disney animated production. Since “Beauty and the Beast,” every Disney animated movie has been met with A+, A, or A- grades.

Although we’re not huge fans of Ben Shapiro, he is spot on with his commentary about Disney’s latest animated movie disaster:

“As Disney begins pushing “Strange World” for next week’s release, here’s the reminder that their “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” to target kids is ongoing. It’s a part of the plot of this movie, just as it was with “Lightyear.” Your kids, your choice.” Shapiro wrote.

I guess if there is an upside, it's that the barriers of entry are coming way down with regard to being able to produce your content. It used to be that Disney was one of a few large conglomerates that produced content due to the very high upfront costs involved.

Now you have many different entities producing their own content, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, just to name a few of the bigger ones (and there are many smaller ones coming into maturity).

Not only that but there are now individuals creating their own content that stream on YouTube and elsewhere, building audiences of millions. Not just entertainment but original content on things like cooking, home repair, history, music, science, investement advice, you name it.

So while yes, Disney will have that dog of a movie forever to push on our kids, Disney is rapidly becoming just another drop in a rapidly expanding pool of content.

There are now so many compelling shows on YouTube that I subscribe to such as self created ones like "Holy Schmidt" (retirement advice), "Zeihan on Geopolitics", "JCS - Criminal Psychology", "Netherlands Bach Society" and "Company Man" (profiles on corporations), that I scarcely have time to check out anything that the older dinosaur companies like HBO, Disney and Paramount Pictures is putting out.

The younger generations now spend most of their time either creating content or watching the content of their peers. In other words, the audiences for what used to called traditional media are declining rapidly as us older folks age and die out.
