The NY Post endorsed Trump in 2016, but attacked his wall proposal

"No, pulling US troops out of Japan and South Korea — and pushing both countries to go nuclear to defend themselves — is not remotely a good idea. American commitments may need rethinking — but careful rethinking.

Yes, controlling the border is one of Washington’s fundamental duties — but “Build the Wall” is far too simplistic a policy for a nation of immigrants.

By all means, get the best trade deals for America — but remember that trade means cheaper goods for the less well-off, and challenge US industries to improve.

Trump’s language, too, has too often been amateurish, divisive — and downright coarse."

You are descendent of immigrants unless you are native American. Current crop of Immigrants in US are more educated and earn more than American born whites.

but he is dishonest. Name one thing I was dishonest. You think you get to bash conservatives without backing it up, like the media does?

Rupert Murdoch can go to hell.

All the Murdochs can go to Hell. Rupert is not fully in charge anymore.

Never refuse intelligent immigrants. It can only help standard of living for all. My problem is not all immigrants, my problem is low skilled, low wealth immigrants who load the wagon instead of pushing it. In USA, many small and big businesses were started by immigrants.

The problem is that in the past, immigrants sent their children to public schools which taught love of country, and gave instruction on what it meant to be a good citizen.

That is no longer the case.

1. I haven't read Ann Coulter in years.

Trump inherited the open borders from Obama. The numbers were also very high under Obama.

If you were proficient in English, you would have been able to see that I said ALL president failed to stop illegal immigration. So, yes, Obama was bad on immigration. Bush, Clinton, Bush, and sadly Reagan didn't secure the border. [If you are going to live in this country, why don't learn the language?] Twice in the last ten years did illegal immigration go down sharply: One was during the financial crisis that started in 2008. Secondly, after the COVID lockdown in March 2020. Immigration went up even higher when Biden became president. I don't think either of those are good longterm solutions. Legal immigration did go down under Trump. The numbers were also very high under Obama. He tried working with both Democrats and Republicans to fix it and got the wall under the National Emergency Act. Biden inherited the a secure border.

He tried working with both Democrats and Republicans to fix it and

I think you are greatly exaggerating that. Show me? got the wall under the National Emergency Act.

LOL. What wall? Trump promised a solid wall. That never happened. He did replace some existing wall with larger slat walling, but not what he talked about before. And overall, a minority of the border has any kind of fencing.

Biden inherited the a secure border.

You can't be serious. Immigration went way up. Show me one article about how Biden was tearing down the wall. The U.S. border with Mexico has always been porous. The next time it is secure will be the first.

Do either of you have an understanding of conservative economics? If a country rewards/incentivizes a behavior, they will get more of it. Right now, the United States incentivizes illegal immigration. Since we do that, people will find a way to get here. Wall, or no wall. Why do you think there were two times illegal immigration went down and many illegals returned to Mexico? Because it was no longer worth it! In the 2008/2009 financial crisis existing and potential illegals realized it was not paying to be in the U.S. Same thing happened in March of 2020. With the lockdown, illegals realized it wasn't paying to come to the U.S. So, if the U.S. wants to have less illegals, it needs to changes it's laws and practices that make it attractive for people to come here illegally.

Why don't you write a letter to Thomas Sowell asking him?

Read my post #15. My friend came here legally and was an asset to this country, and it took him 26 years to get citizenship, while people who came here illegally got it a lot sooner.

My problem is not all immigrants, my problem is low skilled, low wealth immigrants who load the wagon instead of pushing it. In USA, many small and big businesses were started by immigrants.

I am trying to say our laws reward low skill, and law breaking immigrants. And it often makes it harder for valuable legal immigrants.

Most people don't know it, but there is a class of Visa called the O Visa, also called the genius Visa. They are unlimited. The classic example is if you have a Nobel Prize you can get an O Visa. I have seen immigration lawyers are too conservative on what qualifies. For example, a person with two PhDs. I think less than 1% of people in the world have one PhD. And the majority of worthless PhDs are in the U.S.

Skill qualifications should NOT be college degrees.
It should be actual shortage of skilled people needed in main street economy, with a job offer.
