Hyperion has unveiled their XP-1 hypercar, which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain and has a total range of more than 1,000 miles. The Hypercar is expected to go into production this year and was spotted on the streets of Las Vegas in 2021. With this car, Hyperion plans to start a revolution in hydrogen-propulsion technology in the automobile industry.
The Hyperion XP-1 can be taken as a prime example of what a hydrogen-powered car can do. For those of you who haven’t heard about this manufacturer, they are new to the automotive business. Unlike other manufacturers using hybrid or fully electric powertrains, they have worked on creating a hydrogen fuel-cell hypercar that has 2000+ hp and a range of 1000+ miles.
Yup and refill the oceans that are either drying up or rising. There certainly could be a non zero microclimate effect on thousands of cars urinating water as a byproduct but is more water going to be bad?
Hydrogen is not a power source (except for fusion). It is a storage mechanism like a battery. Why? H2 is naturally bonded to Oxygen in the form of water. To get free H2, you have to break the bonds by putting energy in. That’s what batteries do. Energy in. Energy out. So just like charging a battery, the question then becomes, where does the energy come from to break those bonds to make the Hydrogen? In most cases, the answer is hydrocarbon fuels.
You are correct about Toyota. And only in California, they have limited fill up places, no one else does.
What's the left's beef against geothermal? They hate everything else, so they must hate that as well.
Some nits are worth picking.
