The media tried to destroy that girl. She went silent soon after. My guess some very polite FBI goons showed up to her house and made clear to the family that nothing bad would happen if she and her family kept her mouth shut.

I think u are right. I listened to his music back in the day and loved it but never really checked into his politics.
I just did and see many examples where he supported liberals such as Hillary in 2016. It reads he even modified many of his songs to support Dems/attack repubs:
