Doctors and Nutritionists make a lot of stuff up.
Cholesterol is the base for the production of many hormones.

Many say that systemic inflammation is the real problem.
I just eat mainly Paleo, lift weights and sprint, do yoga, meditate, and get plenty of sleep.
Your time is up when it’s up.
It’s lack of exercise that does your heart in, not cholesterol.
Gotta sell the pills.
Doctor told me that to raise my ‘good’ HDL I needed to eat walnuts and salmon.
I don’t like either. At least my ‘bad’ LDL is normal, whatever that means. I consider each day that I can open my eyes and get out of bed a gift, and try to live with that attitude. We’re all here temporarily and God has the exit date.
The only facts to take away from blood cholesterol panels are CLDL count and triglyceride level. The rest are all dependent on genetics. CLDL’s are failed dead cholesterol particles. Triglycerides are the hydrocarbons left over when the liver fails to create healthy cholesterol particles.

Women and minorities just can’t catch a break. How did they even survive evolution?

Could be time to drop cholesterol levels as a means of predicting future heart attacks. From what I have read blood calcium levels are on point for assessing such risk. But all the predictors in the world won’t matter if lifestyle changes aren’t encouraged and followed.
sell more drugs, no?
My doc goes crazy that i am not on meds.
the goal is to have everyone on meds. i remember being told that by taking a hormone after menopause....for the rest of my life...i would live longer. years later i researched it...and found that thanks to 20 years of this med, i would live 8 days longer. lol
Thanks for the link.
Actually, I have heard it is ALL hormones, which there are eight.
Out of curiosity, what are your cholesterol levels? Mine have been north of 250 ever since I first got tested about 40 years ago. I am now 71, and have a a few lesions in the vascular system around my heart. As I understand it, 90% of people over 70 have that development, so I consider it somewhat “normal.” My doctor has been pushing me for years to take a stand, but I am reluctant to do that due to some of the things you mentioned. Exercise, good diet, adequate sleep, and an adequate vitamins/supplement regimen.
Since Pfizer lost Lipitor the real data is coming out
My total is 167
Triglycerides are 77
HDL 63
VLDL is 16
LDL is 83
I’m due for a blood panel, and I think they’ll be better now.
I’ve cleaned up my nutrition and quit drinking.
I used to consume “Irish” levels of booze.
I would never take statins.
Thankfully the Covid shots have a much longer track record, right?
