Purpose
Anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination is recommended by AST, ISHLT, and CDC in all transplant recipients. Lung transplant recipients (LTR) are at a higher risk of developing severe symptoms due to higher immunosuppression (IS) and baseline compromised graft function. Limited antibody response to messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines has been reported in LTR, with the majority mounting a response after the 2nd dose. In this series, 3 patients developed new and significant respiratory compromise after their 2nd vaccine dose consistent with antibody mediated rejection (AMR). Yet they won’t let some people get transplants because they’re not vaccinated. I guess that makes sense.

I have a friend who JUST had a lung transplant yesterday. I pray she is ok and I know she was vaccinated and boosted. I pray there are no complications.
1. You need the jab to get your transplant.
2. Oops, your body rejected your donor organ because you got the jab.

Don’t get the vaccine if you’ve had a transplant
Damn it all.....my Hub had a double lung transplant in 2017, matter of fact 5 years next month. I didn’t want to take that jab, or the 2 others but family said if Hub got Covid he wouldn’t be able to survive so I relented. Don’t know if this has anything to do with it but he was in the hospital in February with chronic rejection......in September with a fungus on his lung (which is no surprise on the gulf coast, all kinds of fungus airborne and in the ground). He’s a fighter and he’ll fight until his last breath but I sure would hate to know if it was the jabs that started this.

Getting more tired of it, and, related heat/humidity, each year.
I totally understand how a statistical analysis can't be prepared on small-sample situations.
But the quantum of these small-sample studies is growing....tick tock...
