Texas reaches ‘very high’ level of flu activity as aggressive flu season continues

Texas’ flu season is off to an early start this year, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, public health officials said this week.

Texas is one of multiple states throughout the U.S. with a “very high” level of flu activity, Vinny Taneja, director of Tarrant County Public Health, said Tuesday.

“I don’t think I’ve seen that in a long time on our flu map,” Taneja said during a commissioners court meeting Tuesday, referencing the maroon color being used to indicate the level of flu in Texas and across much of the southern U.S. Statewide, almost 8% of patients seeking care in outpatient clinics had flu-like symptoms, according to data from the state health department. This metric, which looks at “influenza-like illness,” is the one that most public health officials rely on to indicate how many people are showing up to doctors’ offices with fevers, coughs and sore throats.

They can thank the illegal aliens for that. Governor Abbott was right to declare an emergency.

“I don’t think I’ve seen that in a long time on our flu map,” Taneja said

Well, yeah. For some odd reason, almost no one in the US has had the flu since about 2018 or so.

Had it this past weekend here in NM.

Wife had it worse. Very dizzy. Could barely stand. No fever. Some congestion.

I had some congestion and a low fever for one morning.

We wouldn’t have known we had the flue if we hadn’t taken the wife to urgent care for the dizziness. They ran a bunch of test on her and came back positive for the flu.

Are the new flu vacs working? You see these ads with the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” trying to push a certain brand of flu shot.

Adults can get RSV also, and it’s bad for those over 65.

RE: Texas reaches ‘very high’ level of flu activity as aggressive flu season continues

So, are flu vaccinations and masking going to be complusory, or else you lose your job?

My husband and I have had something for the past week that has really laid us out. Not Covid, if the in-home tests are accurate; and no fever to speak of. But incredible congestion in head and chest, and husband completely lost his voice....

I’m rarely sick. Yesterday afternoon my nose started running. Took Sudafed which usually dries that up. Nope. Runny nose all night with headache and 99 fever. Today tired and sore throat but headache seems to be going away. Sinus congestion but no runny nose. Not much appetite but can force that. Flu? Cold? Black leg? Anthrax? Who knows…..

I lost all sense of smell or taste for a day; have had no appetite. I took cough syrup which seemed to help a little at night.

First thing I’ve caught in almost ten years. Yes, Who Knows? Makes no sense to worry and wonder - just plough through it. (We’re in Maryland.)

It is from all those illegal aliens?

Well, could’s be.

Gee same trajectory as the illegal invasion of our country. Biden is a traitor to allow this.

Shut it down.

Shut it all down.

Hard.

Nip it in the bud.

Yup.

All that IS effective.

The key question is not if that works, but if the disease is WORTH it.

For COVID, we should’ve answered NO by 6 mos out. Instead people are still demanding masks and wearing them, we still get lectured about getting rushed COVID vaxes, and medical “heroes” especially are demanding we wear masks, no matter what specialty they do.

How many people have died of the myriad end-of-life diseases but also had the Flu? Can we count the dead motorcycle
victim as a Flu death if it was in his/her system?

..asking for a friend.
