Two people have been hospitalized and are in critical condition following a stabbing incident at a Target in downtown Los Angeles.
A little before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man who appeared to be homeless walked into the Target store, grabbed a butcher knife from a shelf, and began stabbing people, police said.
A 9-year-old boy and a woman in her mid-20s were injured during the attack.
Before the attack, the suspect told the young boy he was going to stab and kill him, according to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore.
The boy tried to leave the area when the suspect, “without any further provocation,” stabbed the boy in the back left shoulder, Moore said.
After stabbing the boy, the suspect went to a different area of the store, where he “brutally” stabbed a woman in her 20s in the “front portion of her chest,” Moore said.
The woman fell to the ground after being stabbed, and several good Samaritans came to her aid, pulling her inside a nearby pharmacy and closing the gate in an effort to ensure the attack would not continue, Moore said.
A security guard shot the suspect, who was later declared dead at the hospital, Moore told the Associated Press.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
“Out of nowhere, we heard people screaming,” Kevin Zaragoza, who was shopping at the store with his brother, told KABC-TV. “We rushed to the front. Right there by the exit, we see a girl on the floor, blood all over her.”
“After that, we see the whole LAPD swarming in there with shotguns, all types of stuff. It was crazy,” he said.
Bruen can't come to California fast enough.
CCW ........is your friend
You don’t think that Newsome will go the Hochul route and ignore the courts.
....more knife violence....
Gee, wonder why Target just reported $400M in losses...?
Another reason not to patronize Target.
Two shoplifters fighting over goods they were trying to steal?
Thief #1: “Dat mine bro.”
Thief #2: “The hell you say, homie. I be’s taking dat.”
Thief #1: “Uh, no you ain’t bro. I’ll pop a cap in yo’ azz.”
Thief #2: “You trippin’ homie. I’ll slice you so bad, you’ll look like Thanksgiving turkey.”
Thief #1: “Get out my grill, nigga...” Bang, bang.
This is only one of a long series of violent attacks by mentally ill homeless people on innocent persons just walking by, or shopping, or sitting on a bus bench, etc.
Los Angeles County is a very dangerous place to move about outside and try to live a normal life. I agree, concealed carry is coming at some point. These homeless psychos are a clear danger to themselves, but more importantly, to us. I’ve experienced it personally. I was threatened on the sidewalk last year by a man who kept screaming that he was going to shoot me, his threats laced with obscenities. Thankfully, he moved on.
Way to go California, blood is on your hands! A nine year old child might die or sadly be traumatized for the rest of his life DIRECTLY because of the MONSTERS YOU put into office.
Suspect shot? Wow he cops sure got there fast /s (
Guard...................RENT-A-COP.................
Good shot there Wyatt.
They tried in September and failed. They'll probably try again next session.
Misfire: Behind the California concealed carry bill’s big fail
BY BEN CHRISTOPHER
SEPTEMBER 2, 2022The California Legislature rarely passes up an opportunity to place new restrictions on firearms, or stick a finger in the eye of the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority.
But in one of the final acts of the 2022 legislative session, lawmakers declined to do either early Thursday when they opted not to pass a bill that would have rewritten state regulations on concealed carry licenses.
The bill, written by Attorney General Rob Bonta and introduced by Democratic Sen. Anthony Portantino of Glendale, was a direct response to a June high court ruling that struck down a New York state law requiring anyone applying for the right to legally carry around a concealed firearm in public, to demonstrate a “special need” first. California’s similar law, which required the showing of “good cause,” fell along with it.
But despite the very public support of Gov. Gavin Newsom, California’s rejoinder to the court stalled in the Assembly, unable to overcome the wariness of a handful of Democrats and the unified opposition of Republicans. That’s despite some persistent lobbying on the chamber floor by Bonta himself, an Assemblymember for nine years until his 2021 appointment by Newsom to lead the state’s Department of Justice.
According to the final tally, the bill failed by one vote.
“I am deeply disappointed that Californians’ right to live, work, and congregate safely remains at risk as a result of this initial outcome in our Legislature,” Bonta said in a statement. “But make no mistake: We intend to take any and all action necessary to ensure we get a bill that will correct the dangers presented to our communities as a result of” the court’s ruling.

Thanks. Any shift in the balance of the legislature after the midterms?
If he’d just filled a cart with his $900 of free stuff, all would have been well.
Yes I know, my post was sarcasm because contrary to the lefts claim that all we need is to cal, the cops when danger hits, a guard was able to stop the attack (gee, wouldn’t that also work in other “gun free zones”?)
In Israel and Switzerland there are people with Uzis in shopping centers..............
Sadly that is true. But he would get arrested for “stealing a shopping cart” if he left the store with it lol.
Yeah they don’t muck around over therein Israel. Surprised about Switzerland though.
