HEADQUARTERS WARRENTON, Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Nothing, worthy of record has transpired today within the lines of the Army of the Potomac. Gen. BURNSIDE has been engaged with several of his principal officers, on matters of business.

HEADQUARTERS, Wednesday, Nov. 12 -- P.M.

Nothing of striking military importance has transpired to-day. Trains of supplies are continually arriving here. Gen. HOOKER took command of his corps to-day, and was enthusiastically received.

Gen. PORTER took leave of his officers and command, and left for Washington this afternoon.

Gen. HALLECK arrived here this afternoon, and was heartily received by the officers of Gen. BURNSIDE's army.

WARRENTON, Thursday, Nov. 13.

Gen. HALLECK returned to Washington this morning.

Reports at headquarters this morning indicate all quiet in the front.

BALTIMORE, Thursday, Nov. 13.

A correspondent of the American, dated Harper's Ferry to-night, says:

Several parties have reached here from Martinsburgh, from whom we have apparently reliable information of the condition of affairs in the Army of the Potomac up to Cherry Run, where Gen. KELLY is in command.

The rebels have apparently entirely abandoned the line of the Potomac. None of their troops have been seen or heard for nearly a week.

Our cavalry are actively scouting in the vicinity of Martinsburgh, and passing through it. It was reported there that JACKSON had returned to Winchester with a considerable force, and was to move from that point westward.

The better opinion appears to be that if JACKSON is in the Valley at all it is for the purpose of moving toward Staunton, as Gen. COX's march toward that point with a National force is exciting apprehensions among the rebels. A week ago Gen. COX was known to be in Highland County, within forty miles of Staunton.

"Important from the Southwest: Occupation of Holly Springs by Gen. Grant – 4"

Grant's Vicksburg campaign will take eight months, so we'll see maps of it many times.
"Today" Grant is near Holly Springs, Mississippi, moving south on the Mississippi Central Railroad.
My ggf's 119th Illinois is still just off the map, north of Jackson, Tennessee, on the Mobile & Ohio Railroad, guarding Grant's supply lines:
