Morning Joe was in a great good mood today, glorying in the absence of a midterm red wave. And Joe Scarborough wasted no time in taunting Donald Trump.
Willie Geist is normally the most even-handed of the Morning Joe crew. So it was surprising that he authored the unkindest cut of all. Referring to Ron DeSantis's stunning victory in the Florida governor's race, in which he won by almost 20 points and carried outright the traditional Dem stronghold of Miami-Dade, Willie said:
"It would appear this morning, this is Ron DeSantis's party and not Donald Trump's."

If the liberal media is celebrating DeSantis, it makes me wonder about DeSantis.
He’s a good governor, but you can’t be as partisan as Governor as you can as President. There is also a lot that we don’t know behind closed doors.
Having said that, I’d like to believe that DeSantis is putting on an act of some kind.

Scar was also thrilled when Trump beat the GOP field in the 2016 primaries. Then, after Trump won the general, not so much. He’ll never learn.
I will give Desantis the benefit of doubt right now but if he EVER stabs REAL POTUS in the back, he is toast.
The only thing that is more obvious than their desperation to get Trump to pull out, is that they could never win without cheating.

Joe and the talking heads are spewing gibberish. They don't know what just happened but are presuming their traditional manner of rehashing the election will capture its substance.
It won't.
I would suggest that neither the Left nor the Right has any real idea what just happened.
The Left's candidates didn't win because they were better than their opponents; in some races, the Left's candidates were nothing but cardboard cutouts or worse (Fetterman, Hobbs).
What happened was an almost lockstep ejection of the Right's candidates in favor of anything or anyone else.
We know this.
It was downright eerie when one considers that the Right's candidates were, for the most part, merely rational and pro-American.
What appears to have happened is that the indoctrinated collectivists on the Left did what their indoctrination demanded of them without thinking of the ramifications.
Take Fetterman, Hochul, and Whitmer. These candidates' policies are downright dangerous for citizens living in their states. A vote "for" them would be nothing short of masochistic.
Bottom line: If sensible Americans on the Right, in the Center, and even a wee bit into the Left's territory don't figure out what is going on in our nation and how to defend against it, things are going to get worse by an order of magnitude.
We are no longer a country where politics works. As we at FR know full well, we are a country at war...and our enemy isn't even sane.
They aren’t celebrating DeSantis. They just can’t see beyond their hatred for Trump.
Im fine with it being DeSantises party, but these same people will turn on a dime as soon as he gets the nomination.
Exactly, just like at the posts in this thread and others on FR, many people have the idea that it has to be Trump or no one else to the point that many are openly critical of DeSantis.
IMO, in 2024, Trump has little to no chance to win, he will not convince any person to change their mind and support him, everyone already knows Trump.
If Trump wins the nomination, I will gladly vote for him, if DeSantis wins the nomination, I will gladly vote for him as well.
The only chance we have to win is to be united

Ron DeSantis was saved four years ago by Trump. DeSantis cannot bring miles-long adoring crowds everywhere in America as Trump can. Trump is larger than life.
