It was wonderful stuff. I think I found my last bottle somewhere about 12 years ago (might have been Vermont Country Store).
We had lots of interesting, natural-smelling fragrances back then. Now everything is synthetic and smells like fake fruit, coconut, etc. Even high-end perfumes are mostly ‘molecules’, not real perfume oils.

today, i caught a whiff, a mere hint, of the scent, of Herbal Essence, and the memories came back
It is one of the single most unforgettable memories of my youth
my highschool sweetheart, used it and I was like a cat in catnip when she washed her hair!
it truly was heavenly, and some reason, they quit making it, (it’s herbal essenceS now)and a generation or two has never know it’s heavenly scent... damn shame

The cologne I use now attracts women like flies, unfortunately they look like flies too.

And hang this from your rear-view mirror...

They come in packs of three, IIRC. Very authentic!

Strange you should ask. Just last week thinking of shampoos
once used and their fragrance. Herbal essence came to mind.
Haven’t seen this on the shelf in years. Loved the fragrance
just unable to grasp the memory. Like Yardley English Lavendar, to find it on the shelf is like finding gold.
To find a shampoo with wonderful fragrance is only short lived. Pantene had a great product and their fragrance experts
went south. AWFUL. Tossed the bottle. Feel HE must have done
the same for have not searched or seen this on the shelves in
years. Camay and Lifeboy fragrances always took me back to
my grandmother’s bath. Wonder if the fragrance today would do the same.

Yes! I used that as a teenager. Loved the smell.
That and the scent of Revlon Flex conditioner take me back.

The fake fruit is the worst. Gag inducing. I am not a coconut person, but I bought a bottle of Shea Moisture coconut body oil & it smells lovely.
Bath & body works is a scent bomb nightmare. You’re right, back in the day there were some wonderful natural oil scents. China rain!

Sis and I always used that shampoo when we were teens.
The one I REALLY loved was, ‘Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!’ Yep. That was the name of the shampoo and it was lovely.
Also loved the scents of, ‘Loves Baby Soft’ and ‘Loves Lemon.’
I still wear ‘Charlie’ and ‘Skin’ and ‘Heaven Scent.’ Beau says, ‘You smell just like my high school girlfriend!’

Body Shop had some great ones, too. They’re all discontinued now.
I think a lot of it has to do with some agreement many perfumers signed years ago to limit the use of real oils - another ‘sustainability’ thing.
