Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
Oh.. and the main VK/Zot FReepers have since passed away or disappeared, which is why it disappeared down a black hole for awhile...

You say this as if you were not around when Reagan was President. Yet you were. And unless your memory is faulty, you must know Reagan was a far better man, leader, President, etc than Trump ever will be.
Some of them are very obvious, keeping the same style/technique, while others are more seasoned and change things up a bit to try to bypass/fool everyone.
The REAL obvious ones are the ones using 2 or more accounts and trip up (forgetting which accounts they are on).

First and foremost Trump is a Populist. He appealed to conservatives as we are the majority of voters.
Then I will support whatever GOP candidate I feel has the best chance of winning the general.
And then I will support whatever GOP candidate wins the primary.
I do not believe Donald Trump can win the general election but I'll support him if he earns the nomination.
It's a moot point. DeSantis is going to run.

I agree completely with you in regards to the self serving rino establishment, FRiend, but that does not make Trump any less of a liability going forward, nor does it keep someone else from, God willing - stepping up to continue to move forward on the path Trump blazed.

Its okay, Laz. I expect many otherwise sane people to be sucked into the media 'spin' on Trump. It takes a strong heart to stand against the tide. Most people crack sooner or later.
It does make me sad to think of what could have been and watch it fade back into what used to be.

If Trump runs I will vote for him again, but I have friends and family who are lifelong Republicans who voted for him twice but are telling me not a third time. They just don't like his rudeness and bad manners.

I am going to sit out the primary this time. I am tired of politics to some degree. I don’t think our problems will be able to be solved at the voting booth anymore and Heaven knows what democrat rule by fiat will bring us in the next year or two. So far it doesn’t look too good.
I plan to avoid the stress.
