Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
You will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.
Get used to the idea.
Where else are you going to go?
More people vote in Presidential elections.
Well. Bye!
TRUMP 2024 / Desantis 2028
A lot of good troops followed Lord Cardigan as well.
MAGA!!! he 15th is just around the corner!!!
PS: Mini Me Ron is not going to run....
Trump will lose, reincarnated Reagan would lose, Jesus would lose.
So long as the rigged system persists what are we even talking about here?
Trump is an impediment to Republicans winning in 2024.
“...why doesn’t he uses them as part of his staff...”
It’s arguably a latent inferiority complex that drives him to hire based on Ivy League pedigree and concomitant high octane CVs.
He has always wanted to go down as an individual who hired the best quality individuals possible.
The problem is that many of those individuals do not and could never love him or appreciate him as a fellow citizen and leader. They mature into backstabbers. It’s been horrible to witness.
> I respectfully disagree with the premise that Reagan faced the same hostile media that Trump faced. <
Oh, yes. You are correct there. It was a world of difference. The media kinda made fun of Reagan, in a mean-spirited sort of way. But they vilified Trump. Reagan was called a dunce. Trump was called a monster.
So what do you do? You keep your guard up and play it smart. Don’t give your enemy an opening. Unfortunately, Trump rarely did that.
Hmmmm.
You’re not doing your credibility any favors by posting the same crap half a dozen times on the same thread.
It diminishes your argument significantly and makes you look like a fool.
I hate to say it, but I simply don’t think Trump can win. We have foolishly let the Democrats define the mainstream narratives, and they have slandered and misrepresented Trump more than any other major political figure in any of our lifetimes in this country. We have to face the reality that they have defined Trump in a way that make a lot of swing voters fear and hate him and his voters. They have done very well with their strategy of dehumanizing and slandering their opposition instead of running on their record of failure vs. Trump’s record of accomplishments.
Add to that the reality that many of the Dems are hysterical about Trump and would do anything to prevent him from winning again, and it just doesn’t make sense for us to ignore reality and try to win with Trump. If we can’t win decently after 2 years of extraordinary Democrat screw-ups and suffering, then we have to change to have a chance whether we like it or not.
I think Trump could turn this economy around within a few months as well as secure the border again quickly and almost every American would benefit from his re-election, but it’s not going to matter if he has no chance. DeSantis won the majority of the Hispanic vote and the suburban vote—even while staunchly opposing Biden’s open borders and being pro-life. He had lots of non-Republican supporters. Yet he didn’t compromise his conservative values. He’s been stellar on our issues and he hits back at the biased media. We’d be foolish not to go with him if we could get him next time around. Of course if Trump is only challenged by RINOs instead or weak candidates, then I’ll still be Trump 100% of the way.
I just checked Lauren Boebert - she's behind.
Imagine that...
Yep.
All good...
Even though I’ve been here a while I don’t have nearly the cache you do. Thank you for speaking up and coming to a rational conclusion. Unfortunately, trump will run in 2024 and he will lose badly. But then he will be forgotten and we can move on. Too bad we have to wait that long for sanity in the Party.
He'll be back.
The Uniparty just engineered an "election" right in your face and you're quacking about how DeSantis "gonna run the table in 2024"?
You'll get what The Machine tells you you'll get.
The TDSers are the fools.
You’re a windbag. Always have been
