ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — A Florida man learned a tough lesson when he was bitten as he tried to move a 4-foot alligator camped under a U-Haul on Tuesday.
Florida Wildlife Commission officials said they received a call at about 10 a.m. in the Englewood East neighborhood of Englewood, WINK-TV reported.
Auzjia Dickerson, who called 911, told the television station that she discovered “a gator in the carport,” according to the television station.
“I’m here just moving out of my house and there’s a gator in the carport,” Dickerson said.
The U-Haul was parked in the carport, and Dickerson said she was startled by the reptile.
“At first, I kind of freaked because I didn’t know what to do,” Dickerson told WINK.
Dickerson then asked her neighbor to help.
“He’s a dog trainer. So, he came out with like gloves and a sweatshirt,” Dickerson told the television station. “Like he kind of knew what he was doing. But it was fast. He moved too fast. It just didn’t go well.”
The agitated alligator bit the man’s arm, WBBH-TV reported.
“Someone had a broomstick, and they use the broomstick to help pry open the gator’s mouth so he (neighbor) could get his arm out,” Dickerson told WINK.
“A contracted nuisance alligator trapper was dispatched and removed the alligator from the premises,” the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a news release.
Man Bites Alligator! Now that would be news...unless it was Florida Man.
Well, I was born in NW Fla many, many years ago. I don’t know of any friends, neighbors or acquaintances that would have tried to mess with an alligator. I’m bumfuzzled by so many reports of dumb stunts by Floridians.
C’mon Florida man, huh?
“Sometimes it’s easier to just move the U-Haul.”
Bump, Bump, Problem solved!
They will do that
Just a couple of passes with that U-Haul and he could have had a Sail-Gator that he could have returned to the waterway like a Frisbee.
Hey Gator, BAM! BAM! BAM!
Not sure about gator bites. I only got bitten once. I was probably in 7th or 8th grade and I was fishing on the shore and there was this baby alligator not too far out in the water. I threw a top water pug in front of it and it snapped at it and would not let go. I reeled it all the way in and it was not even hooked, just wouldn’t let go. I grabbed it behind the head and got it to let go of my fishing lure. It just had it’s little mouth open. Of course I had to tap it on the nose and things like that. When I tapped it’s lower jaw it snapped shut faster than you could believe onto the very tip of my finger. It was like pliars clamped down. I sacraficed only a little skin pulling my finger loose. It turns out that alligators have nerves all over the inside of their mouth that trigger the snap reflex. I threw the little fella back into the water and I learned my lesson. Alligators have VERY strong muscles for closing, but weak muscles for opening. If you are going to grab an alligator you better grab it around the nose end when the mouth closed. They will still try to claw you and whack you with their tail.
Remember this saga the next time a neighbor asks you for hand.
A Florida man found “a gator in the carport”.
Or so the kids are calling it these days...
The smaller the gator, the more energy they have...
They must first be tired out before trying to subdue them...
Larger gators expend more energy and tire faster...
Florida Man: Hold muh beer
Gator: *snap*
Florida Man: ARGGGHHH Where’s my arm?
Gator don’t play touch football.
I guess the Gator thought he rented the U-Haul... 🤓
Great beer...
We’re gonna need a bigger Uhaul.
