The n'er-do-well spare to the throne has defended his brother since their childhood, but sees no reason why he can't enjoy his royal position with no responsibilities. Over and over, he disappoints his brother, the king, never expecting a day would come when his brother would be assasinated and he would inherit the throne he never wanted. In that moment, his playboy days are over and his brother's dreams become his own.

Later in the 90's when I was transferred from Ft. Riley to Korea, the movers who came to pack my stuff must have known exactly what they were looking for because out of a fairly large CD and LP collection, only that and one other out of print album were missing....
I’m 78 and the first song I can still remember sitting on a luncheon stool and listening to was Tennessee Waltz. I sang choir, so lots of classical-like music, and played classical on a portable boom box. Was a passionate fan of folk music with my first husband, raced my second husband’s Corvette in my Fiat Spyder with the top down around the California hills playing rock at full volume in the late 60’s, and came back to music with the soft sounds of the soundtracks from Grey’s Anatomy. Then I discovered country! Not into Grunge or Rap or Garage bands. Oh, and have become insane about Korean boy bands over the last few years.

The line, “From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen”, Is excellent. Maybe that’s what drove him to his false religion.

very discouraging that Cat Steven, who made his fortune in the USA, is not a Muslim and a terrorist supporter. I haven’t heard any of his music in years, nor do I want to.
I love the music, but I admit I can’t relate to the words. I was given complete intellectual freedom when I was 8 years old. I chose my religion and I chose my political party. When my actions disagreed with mother’s, I would be told what her position was and why, but never told to follow her beliefs.
He might be an example of the reverse of people who had no guidance. Some families demand authoritarian obedience. When rebellion comes, it can come hard. I know nothing about his emotional trials or what brought him to his positions today. Honestly, I couldn’t care less. He thinks he’s right. I think he’s wrong. But that doesn’t affect my opinion of his ability as an artist.
Not if it’s not on the album. I’d never find it in my collections.

Cadfael only became a monk in his later years. He had been a knight on Crusade and had lived with a young woman, whom he never knew bore him a son. As the young man waits for his true love, he tells Cadfael the story of his life and of his mother. It’s a wonderful scene in the episode.
There’s a longish short story in another Cadfael book that describes Cadfael hearing that his son has been captured and not released for ransom. He leaves his monastery and, potentially, his calling, to find and rescue the boy.
Yeah, I knew it was something like that, just couldn’t think of the proper name for it. I have it on CD.

We had some excitement around here. Husband told me his test had come back positive for covid and he’s spent the last FOUR! weeks masked and protecting me. Mistakes R Us! I used to start magazines with local funding before folding them into a professional society. When I started Ada Letters for the new DoD-I common language, I received HUGE numbers of submissions. To keep the mailing cost down to the company, I would 2-up the articles. EVERY SINGLE ISSUE had a new and different way to screw up 2-upping.
