It's getting better, but I'm getting older, and that is the norm.
Doctor said to try Lipo Flavonoid.
You have to give it two months.
I’ve had it, I have it, it never goes away. Isn’t debilitating, but damn it never goes away.
Danged annoying, been living with it for decades. Somedays are worse than others, but always there.
You’ll get used to it, probably. I’ve had tinnitus since my early 20s, thanks to shooting, chainsaws, and loud music mostly. I didn’t like to wear hearing protection back then.
Welcome to the party, pal.
Mine (both ears, high pitched constant whine). Probably caused by the heavy use of Aspirin I had to take for pain for 6 months.
My condolences.
I’ve had tinnitus for about twenty years now. Sometimes it’s so loud I can’t get to sleep, other times it’s just there.
Good luck.
For years, decades really, I’ve always had a low level hum/ring in my ears. Not loud, not even noticeable except when it’s quiet but it’s never quiet for me. However I recently got hearing aids because of normal age related loss and when I’m wearing them for some reason that constant background noise is gone. Weird. They don’t have any sort of feature to do that for me (some models do) but they do it for whatever reason.
Get one of those tunable mechanical white noise machines they sell for travellers, it makes a big difference if the noise gives you trouble falling asleep. Other than that, look for ways to reduce inflammation (diet, nutrition, exercise, etc...). For many people with tinnitus, the symptoms are worse when their sinuses congested.
In restless dreams, I hear the tone
That says I'll never be alone
I always hear it when I wake up
It always says we never will break up
When the day is done and it's time to turn out the light
And face the night
I miss the sound of silence
They say they’re searching for a cure
Ten thousand doctors, maybe more
After many years of coping
Tell me, should I just stop hoping
That someday they’ll find a way to stop the sounds I dread
And when I'm dead
I’ll hear the sound of silence
No one around me really knows
Tinnitus like a cancer grows
I remember when it would annoy me
Now I think it's trying to destroy me
Or maybe, it just wants to be my friend
Should I pretend
To like the sound of tinnitus
How many times I’ve bowed and prayed
That God would make the noises fade
But I must not let self-pity fill me
I know that this disease can’t kill me
It’s the cross I must bear, many others have to bear much worse
It is my curse
To hear the sound of tinnitus
I don’t remember a time when I didn’t have tinnitus.
I’ve had it for years. Tried calling the tinnitus help but but no answer. It just kept ringing and ringing.
The cause for me was ibuprofen (Motrin), that I took to help me get to sleep. When I stopped taking ibuprofen, the tinnitus stopped.
Tinnitus is a symptom of an Acoustic Neuroma also known as a vestibular schwannoma which is a tumor that starts its life on the eighth cranial nerve which is the nerve that hearing is transmitted on...I have had 2 AN’s, the first one destroyed my hearing in my Left ear, the 2nd one 20 years later again started out on what was left of the hearing nerve and reformed but this one was way to involved with nerves so I had Gamma Knife Radiation. Thankfully I had them cut that nerve during the 1st surgery or the Tinnitus would have literally driven me insane...It was past horrible before the surgery, quit as a mouse now thank goodness. If you are experiencing Tinnitus you could have a AN. I strongly urge you to get an MRI.
I am a supporter of cannabis. I have a dog in the fight as I use to manufacture extraction equipment so take it as you will. I do not use it myself. I have seen THC and CBD used with amazing results for neurological issues with amazing results.
Do you have any idea why you have contracted tinnitus - except for aging?
E.g., were you exposed to high noise levels at work, or did you routinely listen to rock music with the volume turned up?
Any environmental factors at all that might have contributed to your contracting this condition?
Regards,
Hearing aids help a lot.
Right ear only for a long time. Seems worse now but probably because I’ve more peace and quiet now. It’s never ending and always there. You just have to learn to ignore it. It’s one good thing about death - I won’t have to listen to it anymore
There is also a sleep aid Ativan (lorazepam) that will knock you out and not leave you groggy in the morning like Valium or other benzos. It has been cross prescribed for years as a sleep aid with little to no side effects, and not addictive nor tolerance buildup.
It only bothers me at night then I go to sleep with talking podcasts from youtube with very low volume.
