It's a miscarriage of justice what has been done to Jones.
I’ve never understood the magnitude of the damages levied on Jones. Yes, he made up a fantasy about the shooting, but those that suffered losses certainly knew that it was a fantasy, so why would they have taken him seriously and been mentally tortured by his claim.
IMO, the parents chose to make themselves public figures. They explicitly and implicitly pushed for the elimination of constitutional rights for which they were justly reviled.

Free speech isn’t free if only speech that doesn’t offend is permitted. Before someone chimes in about how this isn’t really about free speech, because it’s a civil libel case, show me how Alex Jones’ false statements injured the good reputation of the parents to the tune of nearly $ billion. The jury award, in my opinion, wasn’t about actual harm done but more about punishing Jones for politically disfavored speech in general.
In my opinion, Amendment V should apply in cases where punitive damages are sought or not waived.
It is my opinion that the media foments school shootings by naming the shooters and showing their photos.

Anyway, if Mr Jones wants vindication of his theories, he has only to wait a few years. This has been the case with so many of the things he has put forward that seemed outlandish at the start.
Regarding the sandy hook deal, I think he may have overspoken on a few things he said, but he raised some legitimate doubts.
Something that was set up may not always have been completely set up, i.e., with the conspicuous hiring of actors, having technical crew stage the scene, getting cooperation from locals, getting it to work right the first time rather than having to re-shoot the thing over and over again because someone had to go to the bathroom, etc.

There are so many examples of “Palestinians” supposedly being killed in large numbers by Israelis, and then someone got a short video of them setting up the scene, sprinkling debris on the actors, pouring fake blood here and there - there are too many of these examples for it all to be discounted.
For example, the recent case of Uvalde, TX: This guy was a known freak locally. He was a problem at school, and people complained about him - just like with so many school shooters, he was known, right? This seems to argue against staging, but, haha, now we also have examples of those who get in trouble for something stalkerish and dark, get busted, and THEN get semi-recruited (think MKU1tra) for one or another govt agency now known for persecution of patriotic, law-abiding citizens, and THEN he commits an atrocity...? As an internet troll you can eff with ten or more people over a long period of time and, as long as your needs are being met. you can do a lot of damage. We all know that, haha! Some guy who likes to kill cats and just got a new rifle for his b-day will garner attention with these “recruiters.”
There are so many ways these guys can get to people that even some high-tech version of Sherlock HOlmes with a 24-hour computer-brain robot assistant will not be able to get to him before he takes a bunch of innocent lives. (I note from reading about the St Bartholomew Day massacre that in many cases the cath0lics stirred up the local people and relied on them to start massacring the Huguenots. So you don’t really need a computer to be effective with creating mayhem. Just saying.)
As the babylon bee magazine says, the FBI has an easier time solving crimes that it has staged itself.
Also - and I really hate to say this because it makes me seem callous to an extreme - there may be some real dead people in a staged massacre.
