Page spurner: 'Squad' member Cori Bush's new book apparently sells just 729 copies in first week

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) did not appear to have a strong showing with her new book.

The progressive firebrand and member of the "Squad" in Congress sold 729 copies of her memoir The Forerunner: A Story of Pain and Perseverance in America during the first week of sales, the New York Post reported, citing NPD BookScan. The following week, she only sold 288 copies.

"From one of America's most transformative politicians and activists, a powerful and inspiring memoir that sheds light on a harrowing personal journey and reveals how urgently we need our political leadership to prioritize meeting the needs of our most marginalized communities," a description of her book reads.

Her memoir focuses on her time working a minimum-wage job, surviving sexual violence, and rising through the political ranks into Congress. She was paid at least $50,000 by the publisher, according to financial disclosure reports.

Bush's book hit bookshelves on Oct. 4, and the congresswoman did a media blitz promoting it. At one point, while promoting the book, she recounted a painful memory of what she described as a forced abortion that she endured at the age of 19.

"I thought I was ready. And I went in, and I went through all the steps because ... it's almost like an assembly line," Bush recalled in an interview on Firing Line. "I was helped up onto the table by the nurse. And I lay there. And I started to think, 'Well, one, I didn't tell the father, that that was about to happen.' And I just felt like I needed more time."

Too bad Bush is not a on air host on Fox News. Everyone of them is hawking a book, no doubt ghost written, and get millions in free ad time. There is hardly any time for reporting the news between the shop at home segments. O’Reilly started this scam at Fox to pay for his sex harassment settlements.

Baltimore Mayor Pugh’s book scandal isn’t history’s first:

The investigations surrounding Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh’s (using tax dollars to buy book she authored)...“Healthy Holly” books..... aren’t the first time a politician has run afoul of public opinion (and possibly the legal system) because of a book.

1. 1983: Emanuel Savas’ “Privatizing the Public Sector” (Reagan admin)

2. 1988: Jim Wright’s “Reflections of a Public Man” (Texas dem)

3. 1997: Newt Gingrich’s book deal (Georgia)

4. 2004: Patty Rowland’s “Marvelous Max: The Mansion Mouse” (Connecticut dem)

5. 2015: David Petraeus’ biography (military)

Not even guilt-ridden Karen leftists want to buy that book. Probably half the sales are from her mom and a few friends that feel bad for her.

I never heard of this Cori Bush until now. What’s her relationship to the Republican Bushes?

She’s not a member of the Squad. She is, However, a member of the Squats.

You supply the visuals.
