SNL Nails Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s Insurrection Insanity
Daily Beast ^ | October 16, 2022 | Matt Wilstein

Saturday Night Live got back to basics this week, kicking off the show with “live” coverage of what could be the final Jan. 6 committee hearing. And after a brief introduction from Kenan Thompson as Chairman Bennie Thompson—no relation—Heidi Gardner debuted her solid Liz Cheney impression.

“Whether you’re a Republican who’s not watching or a Democrat who’s nodding so hard your head is falling off, one person is responsible for this insurrection: Donald Trump,” Gardner’s Cheney said. “And one person will suffer the consequences: me.” Next she explained that she got her “backbone made of steel” from growing up with an especially tough dad, joking, “I guess you could say I have Big Dick Cheney energy.

”The big highlight of the sketch, however, was neither Cheney nor an appearance by James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, but some never-before-seen footage of Nancy Pelosi—an expert Chloe Fineman, taking over from Kate McKinnon—and Chuck Schumer—Sarah Sherman, in some truly inspired casting—as the Capitol riot was underway.

While Pelosi took charge, calling Vice President Mike Pence, Schumer was on his flip phone with DoorDash. “Yes, we still haven’t received any of our lunch orders! And yes, I did change the drop-off location, due to some unfortunate treason, but it should have arrived by now.” And later, after Pelosi threatened to punch Trump out, Schumer added, “Let me tell you, if Trump comes, I’m going to let him punch me in the face. I’ll go to the hospital, free soup!”

Even SNL can sense the country’s mood.

About freakin’ time. They’re in the business of being funny, and they are never funny! And there’s all this comic gold just lying around. Babylon Bee and Greg Gutfeld needs help covering it all, now that Rush is no longer with us.

Nanzi and Chunky think they are pissed off over the J6 “insurrection”, they would have really lost their friggin’ minds over the Boston Tea Party real “insurrection”.

SNL can be capable of a decent skit from time to time.

Would be interested to see what other Freepers thought of it.

Their portrayal of Crazy Schiff, Looney Schumer and drunken Pelosi was pretty good. Some good lines about throwing their summer and careers away on the J6 “committee.”

Yep I was SHOCKED to see that SNL is FINALLY lampooning the Demonrats!

The J6 committee is ending, as well as the fraudulent reasons for the committee. Thus, recognizing that J6 is over, SLN could do nothing but make fun of the event(s). If the committee's work was still ongoing, you can bet that SNL would be doing the democrats work for them, including showing Trump with his rally members invading the Capitol. So, SNL had no choice but to lampoon the committee and Nancy and Chuck.

They have enough material with Chuck, Nancy and the Biden’s to do a feature film SNL. And that’s not mentioning Jill and her awful garb.

It’s their punishment for failing. Orange Man Bad is not in an orange suit, and he’s got to be guilty of something. SNL wants him to be!

You’re probably right on that. But it was shocking that they did it now. Used to be always “too soon” for the Demonrats.

“ This show was funny 45 years ago.”

True.
But this one was pretty good.
The Schumer / Pelosi actors were good

Didn’t watch to the end. I bailed when they began to HAMMER the point that Donald Trump LOST the election. Sure they’re lampooning democrat personalities, as cover for deriding the idea that the election was stolen in broad daylight. Same old same old for me.
