NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo, one of the best defenders in the league's history, is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, the league announced Saturday (Oct 15).
Mutombo, 56, hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and has been a global ambassador for the National Basketball Association for years.
He played for several teams throughout his long career, including the Denver Nuggets, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Atlanta Hawks and the then New Jersey Nets.

If it’s Glioblastoma, he’s through. Very sad to hear, greatest shot blocker in NBA history.
Good luck to him. It’s a good thing he’s tough as nails.
That sucks.
Pro basketball players get all the women they could ever want, to play with. He’s had a great life.
I pray he does not have Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Should he, he is not necessarily “history.” There is not a whole lot of us but there are outliers. I have lived with GBM since Veterans Day 2016.
Ummmmm, pretty sick there buddy. That is your measure for a wonderful life is to womanizer? Dikembe wasn’t known for such hobbies, so I guess his life sucked. By the way, he isn’t dead yet.
Prayers up for you. God Bless You.
Congrats, and I hope you continue on.
Thank you and everyone else for prayers. Prayer more than anything has been the key to my good health. My medical pros are incredible. They treat me like a rock star and call me the”poster child for the standard of care,” which is surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, and more chemotherapy. My wife is cheerleader #1. The Judo/SAMBO/Grappling community world-wide have supported me too. I think the anaerobic burn I get from practicing Judo has also helped.
I did Jiu Jitsu with a Silver medalist Heavyweight from the Pan Am Games.
I had zero experience.
It was brutal...
He was nice though and didn’t kill me.
Take care and get better. :)

This is what I’d like to say to Mr. CitizenSailorChief, too :-)
Prayers for his healing.
LOL, great ad.
