ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - ECISD police arrested a 5th grader after making a threat to bring a gun to school.
Students reported the threat on Thursday, and upon investigating it, ECISD police arrested the boy on the Class A Misdemeanor Charge of Threat of Exhibition of Weapon on School Property or Bus.
ECISD would like to reiterate that school and school district leaders will continue to treat any mention of school violence seriously, and will continue to charge students criminally as well as apply school discipline if threats like this are made.
Was it “Dave”, “Guadalupe”, or “DeQuarious”?
Ping
Remove the kid from the school.
A threat? So he didn’t bring a gun to school. It’s a little kid and he’s probably scared. How is this different from adults being afraid and wanting to carry a weapon? Maybe this child is acting rationally and mature. We don’t know the full details, but we do know one. It involves a school. That means teachers and administrators. I have ZERO respect for either of those given their proven track record of failure and inability to do anything correctly. This is probably their version of social justice, destroying a child’s life.
So he made a threat but didn't actually bring a gun to school? Can't these people just expel the little shit?
There was a kid where I live who was in a videogame chat (they wear headsets to play games and these are ‘first person shooter’ war games) who said something after getting killed in the game about bringing a gun to school as a joke.
Of course, got reported. Expelled. Parents had to eat the year of tuition they’d prepaid.
Basically, all of life for kids now has the sign up like you see at the airports, “No jokes allowed.”
I understand the caution but it would seem something less than zero tolerance should be allowed for stupid boys to say stupid things.
Another student (girl) was videoed by a friend saying the “n word” (singing some rap song) and was expelled for that.
There was a student cheerleader at I believe University of Tennessee who was recorded two years earlier saying the “n word” and some old high school nemesis released the video. Kicked off the cheerleading squad. Not sure if she was expelled.
There’s no space for ‘kids to be kids’ or kids to do stupid things or say stupid things.
Imagine everything you said and did from 13-23 had been recorded, videoed, etc. and could be released at any time to destroy your life.
There’s also a lot of lingering mental instability and scholastic damage from the Branch Covidian’s shutting down all the schools. Kids are not strong emotionally and can’t just ‘deal with it.’ Many went into depression, speech development issues, lowest ACT scores in decades.
We have a generation of mentally unstable holistically impaired children on the way - and they’ll be handed the Baby Boomer social security debt. How’s that going to play out?
Zero-defect rules in affect. Same thing at airports where a person can be lead off in handcuffs for making a joke or blowing off steam.
I don’t have an answer.
Not necessarily.
Notice they use grade instead of age.
could be 12 or 14
that is why conservatives should never put kids in government schools and should raise them with like minded people.
Covid taught us to operate in pods, expand it to groups.
FTA:...police arrested a 5th grader after making a threat to bring a gun to school
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, why would the police make a threat to bring a gun to school?
lol!
No editor at that news station apparently.
I’m old enough to remember guns being brought to show and tell. Unloaded and teacher had them put up until it was time but imagine that happening today? School would go into lockdown.
I also remember ROTC shooting practice at school. Now these were pellet guns, not M16s, but even that today would be surprising.
I also remember (did I mention I’m old?) guys with gun racks in their trucks because they either came from or were headed to hunt before or after school. Imagine a gun rack in a parking lot at a school today? Again, they’d go into lockdown and freak. Likely charge the owner with domestic terrorism.
ECISD police must have been scared shitless until they found out HE WAS UNARMED!! How many “brave” officers did it take to arrest a 5th grader???
So if a 5th grader makes a gun threat and gets arrested, can we have Joey Crappy Pants arrested for making a public declaration of WAR against 71 million MAGA Republicans?
Imagine how long a gun on display in a visible gun rack would last, too.
I remember those racks in pickup trucks loaded with rifles.
Was he going to bring his water pistol in to show his friends?
American schools were safer when the students brought their 22 rifles to shoot at the school rifle range in the basement. They even had sporting competitions for marksmanship. Time have certainly changed since my youth.
From the same era. Also, Mumblety Peg at recess and lunch when not playing ball of some kind. No shooting courses at my school, but more than a couple gun racks in use. Nobody thought of stealing them (well, maybe some did, but didn’t), and nobody certainly thought of shooting up a bunch of innocent classmates. Just not a part of reality in those days. Kinda like the time before safety seals on everything, then came the Tylenol poisonings. I remember the utter shock at that little stunt— nobody’d ever done such a thing before, and it changed the world.
Man, those Biden Gaystapo guys are tough.
Indeed do they even make cap guns any more.
