Burlington police responded to an attempted home invasion on Sellers Mill Road Thursday morning. Residents of the home were returning home when they a man approached them with a gun.

67-year-old Vernon Forest Wilson tried to enter the house, but the resident successfully shut the door. He struggled at the door and his gun went off, grazing the resident's chest.

When Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) arrived, they processed Wilson's glove that had fallen off during the break-in and discovered a severed finger inside. CSI discovered that Wilson's finger was detached after the resident forced the door shut on his finger while trying to break inside their home.

My husband (twice retired) is talking about picking up some part time work now that our property management business has basically died. (thank you washington dc)
Don’t want him to do it, he works hard enough but the extra money would be welcome.

If this goes to court, the discovery would be interesting. Exhibit A is the finger in the glove, to match up with the accused who has a severed finger.

He needs to hire Johnnie Cochran to prove the glove doesn't fit. LOL

I suspect he's not the only one.

I’m so confused. Was that his trigger finger? If it was how did he get off the shot? Maybe it was a pinky?

I expect they matched the digit to the pert because he demanded they sew it back on as in “hey, that’s mine.” said “Lefty.”

Normally you don’t leave prints behind if you wear gloves. I guess every plan has a flaw somewhere.

Adds a whole new meaning the phrase “getting fingered”.

That’s the problem: the accused DOESN’T HAVE a severed finger. Unless, of course, it got sewed back on. In which case maybe they have to match the stitches to the dent in the door?

So a guy with a gun comes running across the yard yelling “let me in.” Slamming a door seems like a good first move. Getting ones own gun out of the umbrella closet would be a good second move.
