On the other hand most of the time I prefer what I cook at home. My favorite food is a hamburger, which I grind round steak, cook on the grill, and smother with my homemade dill pickles.
That driver usually covers their own gas costs. Don’t be a lazy person. Make your own meals
Why would anyone order anything through Uber eats? It's a terrible business model that won't last. It's way too expensive for what you're buying.
This is why tipping is to occur AFTER the service was provided.
The delivery services like these the drivers decide whether or not to take thr order. For $4 to deliver your order frozen restaurant XYZ was determined by the working drives not to be worth it.
Why? Perhaps restaurant XYZ is notorious for taking forever to get the food ready and $4 isn’t worth the drivers time to sit and wait 20 minutes to get the food. Perhaps the distance between XYZ and your house is to far and would require 20 minutes or more of driving to deliver. In either scenario your $4 tip would equate to less than $12 an hour before expenses…. So not worth their time.
I used to make $10+ an hour in tips delivering pizzas back in the 90s and I got fuel reimbursement.. it’s 30 years later and you expect folks to fall all over themselves for a $4?
If no one will take the job for your price then you need to up your pay, period. Drivers don’t care what your order value is, whether the ti is 10% or 100% of the order value means noting.. simply is the pay worth the effort and your $4 tip ain’t worth the effort…. Stop whining abs either go get it yourself or pay what is needed to get someone to do it.
She’s a moron. She says “like” over and over. Get up off your fat ass and cook something
Everywhere I go there’s a tip jar nowadays. I saw one that said “please give back”!! Give back for what? I had just spent $10 in a fast food restaurant and I’m certainly not going to tip!
During the pandemic people were tipping crazy high amounts. Grateful to just get a restaurant meal and have it left on their front porch!
Drivers need to understand, those days are gone, gone, gone! Inflation or not. People won’t give a 50% tip anymore. Taxes, fees, delivery charges...and tip.
A few weeks ago I was doing some yardwork and needed a break, plus I needed to run out to Lowes for a few things. Like mulch and mums. As I scanned the Instacart site to place my grocery order...I saw they now deliver from Lowes. So I ordered my 5 bags of mulch and mums. THIS delivery person got a tip on the app and then a cash tip from me on delivery. I figure she deserved it for loading heavy bags and unloading them manually too.
Food delivery people? You get 20% of the order.
These apps are also notorious for cancelled orders after a driver has picked up the food.
2 orders of 9 wings, and a pizza and 2 liter was over 40.00. Plus tip. cost of meal included a 6.00 delivery.
Half goes to driver. Other half to dominoes.
It’s nuts. I rarely order anymore.
I never use these delivery services; in fact, I will only order pizzas wher I can pick it up myself to purposely avoid having to deal with a tip.
On what planet is a 50% plus tip like a standard tip?
````````````````````````````````````````````````
On what planet is $4, 50% of $17?
That would be the last time I ordered from Uber eats...
After getting a check for a meal, I noticed that the suggested calculated tip now starts at 18%. 15% is long gone. However, much like Vinnie Antonelli in My Blue Heaven, I believe in big tipping.
Man, that burger sounds delicious!
Sam’s Club now offers delivery in our area.
$8 for Sam’s Plus members or $12 for regular members - regardless of the size of the order.
I don’t think tipping is involved since Sam’s Club employs the drivers and pays for the transportation, from what I understand.
I think she should call up a friend or two and meet somewhere for dinner instead of becoming a hermit and having it delivered so she can stay holed up in her apartment. She probably works from home too. I worry about what society is becoming. Every time we go out to eat the restaurant is empty, maybe a couple tables of boomers like us, but it’s a constant flow of Uber Eats drivers and individual customers picking up orders. These places used to be packed with diners.
Ridiculous.
And getting worse all the time.
Used to be 5% tip on drivers. This lead-off story is paying 25%? Insane as it is. Never mind 50%.
It depends on how far. If I have a $20 order but they guy has to travel an hour to bring it to me and return, I’ll give a tip based on the DELIVERY EFFORT
If I had to drive, how much gas would it cost me, how much time.
A tip for food in a restaurant is one thing- The Water only has to walk to the kitchen and back. But a car delivery is a whole different thing.
I have regularly tipped at least $10 minimum for deliveries
