. Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard announced she is leaving the Democratic Party, denouncing lawmakers on the Left for promoting policies that “[racialize] every issue & stoke anti-white racism.”
In a video announcement released on Tuesday, Gabbard called on other members of the party to abandon the Democratic Party, accusing the Left of only protecting the “powerful elite.” It’s not clear what party Gabbard plans to join next or if she intends to remain independent.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonize the police & protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war,” Gabbard said. “If you can no longer stomach the direction that so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country, I invite you to join me.”
Gabbard, a one-time presidential hopeful for the Democratic Party, retired from the House in 2021. Since then, the former Hawaii representative has been publicly critical of the party, particularly toward President Joe Biden.
“I believe in a government that is of, by, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government of, by, and for the powerful elite,” Gabbard said. “I’m calling on my fellow common sense independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party.”
Now she can officially become a Sanders independent. Go Bernie Bot!

Hope so. But if she doesn’t she can always pull the one that’s up McConnell’s butt.
....at this point, I believe she has indicated she will NOT join the republican party...and I doubt she would become a Bernie Sanders independent clone either....we’ll see....
Gabbard is now my pick to win best actress this March ...
She can grab guns and push for single pay in any party. I like her on the surface but will never trust what is lurking beneath.

She’s been consistent in her beliefs. She never said she’s conservative, nor Republican.
She’ll probably be Independent.
She is too attractive to be DEM.
Give credit when credit is due. Clearly she is not a good fit with today’s radical Left which is the Democrat Party. Leaving the party makes me believe she has convictions and is not a fake. I wish people like Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney would leave the Republican Party.
The Democratic Party has smelled as bas as a septic tank when you take the lid off of it for years.
WHY is Tulsi only now able to smell the dirty, filthy, rotten, despicable, unpatriotic, America hating, communist riven democratic party?
I don’t believe her.
And she served arguably the most liberal consituency in the country, in Hawaii, so she probably had to play way more to the left than she really is, we’ll see.
I disagree with others who believe she is fake. I believe she’s very much for real. She’s a left leaning populist. I vehemently disagree with her about guns and socialized medicine and those are both deal breakers for me. Otherwise, I tend to agree with her. Her criticism of today’s Democrat party is spot on.
Can a republican win ANY office in Hawaii?
Well she may not the perfect politician, but considering the pool, she may be as good as we’ll get. Lets see how she maneuvers going forward.
I would trade LIZ for TULSI any day.
Yep. No matter what, she’s better than most Democrats.
So I would prefer her to most Democrats if one is to be elected.
