(RNS) — Queer students like Veronica Bonifacio Penales, who have been protesting religious university policies they call discriminatory and homophopic, often find themselves confronting the same question: “Why would you go to a Christian school if you are LGBTQ?”
For many of these students, this fight at religiously affiliated universities is part of a larger push happening from within Christianity toward more inclusive beliefs to, as activists at Seattle Pacific University put it, “deconstruct harmful theologies on sexuality, gender and queerness.”
And, as they’ve reminded their thousands of social media followers: “You can be queer and Christian.”
“We shouldn’t have to compromise where we go because they don’t want to accept who we are,” said Penales, a student at Baylor University, a Baptist school in Waco, Texas. “Baylor has taught me what I don’t want my religion to be.”

Moronic student at Baylor: Go F YOURSELF! But then I bet you do with your dildo, unless it’s your girlfriend’s.
Narcissism is a psychological foundation of homosexuality.
Exactly. Go to a Muslim University
I used to think the story about Sodom and Gomorrah a bit extreme. No more.
We are watching the total destruction of morality in America. It is moving very quickly..... and not going to stop until we all yield.
Well, bye!
Br healthier environment without the perverts and mentally ill.
I hope the schools take it upon themselves to explain to all the students WHY these people are wrong. Somehow I don’t think they will since so many don’t understand either.
The foundation of this error is the idea that if something is “natural” it must be good.
I remember back in the 90’s when that “gay gene” study came out. Many people did an about face on homosexual behavior because they thought it was proven that they were “born that way”.
The media never reported that the study was poorly done and could never be replicated ( meaning it’s conclusions were false). But even if it were true, it shouldn’t have made a difference.
if they’re so picked upon, why do they scontinue to choose to attend?
Christians love the sinner but hate the sin. They worship Virtue Grandstanding.
So are the targeted institutions really “Christian”? They need to give proof of it and stand by the stuff! Mere shells of Christian Institutions Past have been folding folding like cheap suits for decades.
Two of my college degrees are from private Christian schools. By all means, if you’re fag/dyke/trannie, go someplace else. I hear Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is nice this time of year.
Kids these days.
When they say “You can be queer”, they are implying rather forcefully through the words chosen to be actively participating in the queer lifestyle. No, you cannot be “queer” and be a believing Christian as you have an attachment to a serious sin.
I like this translation better:
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
If Milo Y could repent and give up that sin...anybody can.
They should transfer to a Muslim school. I hear those are much more tolerant.
Lol, “school inmates”... it sure felt that way in school lol.
If a person is practicing homosexuality, and they are a Christian, they are living outside the will of God, and in vio, action of his word and in violation of,the rules of the Christian school which forbid that lifestyle for, obvious reasons
If the kids don’t like those facts, then too bad! The schools need to stand strong on this issue and not compromise like so,many do today. Compromising is just allowing rot to infest a healthy body, and will eventually be its undoing.
If however a person is struggling with homosexuality, and not engaging in the act, and not fighting to have the school a cept th3 deviant ungodly practice as normal, then thst person needs to seek further help, not make all kinds of demands for the school to compromise! The person fighting the sin of homosexuality also needs to,understand that if they should fall back, into the sin, then they shoukd be expelled for violating school rules.
If they dont like that, then leave.
Apparently, yes. Accordcing to Wikipedia,
RNS was founded in 1934 by journalist Louis Minsky as an affiliate of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Everett R. Clinchy was the... co-founder. RNS was acquired by...the Religion Newswriters Foundation in 2011.
In April 2015, the Catholic News Agency published an article disclosing that RNS had received a grant of $120,000 from the Arcus Foundation* with the stated intent “to recruit and equip LGBT supportive leaders and advocates to counter rejection and antagonism within traditionally conservative Christian churches”, also questioning if the grant had biased RNS's coverage of traditional religion. In response, RNS's then editor-in-chief Kevin Eckstrom said that the grant language is “Arcus’ description of their funding, not ours” and denied that the grant had any influence over editorial decisions at RNS.
*Arcus Foundation is an international charitable foundation focused on issues related to LGBT rights, social justice, ape conservation, and environmental preservation. The foundation's stated mission is "to ensure that LGBT people and our fellow apes thrive in a world where social and environmental justice are a reality."
