Vertappen became the F1 World Champion today, after winning the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
12 wins out of 18 races this year with 4 more races to go.
Could break the single season record of 13 wins.
32 F1 wins altogether.
Only 25 years old.
Probably going to end up with at least 5 world championships altogether if not more.

I was racing in iracing, and folks in there would go ballistic if you happened to have the racing line and didn’t pull out of it to let them pass you, or if you happen to hit a curb, lose a bit of speed and cause them to bump your car or some thing. Got tired of the constant accusations and nasty attitudes there. Once I got up Into the higher classes of racing though, that calmed down a bit, but still, it just was constant pressure to be perfect. I dunno how the real drivers in f1 and the like deal with the constant pressure- kudos to,them for being able to- especialy to max, who seems so calm. O matter what (hamilton on the other hand has a babysitter to calm hi. Down and console him if he doesnt win- uggh.)
the anxiety got so bad I just basically left except for a race here and there, and now,I only race the ones where the drivers ‘class, license’ isn’t on the line- a lot more fun that way.
Reactor is a pretty cool Sim, but u fortu ately not enough players race it, but the ai racing is pretty fun though- its free too if I remember right. (Haven’t played in in ages- got into Iracing)
They c.aimthe Sims are so good “realisticall” that a person could go to an actual track and know most every bump and corner and grip situation before they even get on the track if they played the track enough in the Sims. A Sim racer who was pretty young but really good driver, was invited to test a real car on a track, and the fella riding with him said he had it nailed in short order. The kid said his Sim racing really prepared him for what tl expect o. The track.
Let’s be honest the glory years of F1 died with Ayrton Senna no question about it it was a man sport before that playboys international guys who drove very high risk racing is anyone here seen that special about the fatalities in the 60s 70s and 80s man it was scary I mean a lot of very good drivers got killed and died hard some of them I’m not advocating that but those were real men let’s be honest think of the big namee gone in their prime
that’s what made it so incredible the risk factor and the drivers individual skill sets
now it’s about the racing teams as much as the drivers maybe more
Senna best ever
I guess if one consumes enough cocaine it might look real. No diving off the Docks Please.
This thread reminds me of Star Trek and Star Wars nerds going after each other. :)
THANKS! I might have done that.
Well as a Neutral Observer of the heated discussion on F1 vs Indycar I must declare the winner: F1 because it would take 5 seasons of Indycar to equal the Political Bu££$}{!t of 1 Race in F1 !!!
That painted crap in MIA isn’t like them-thar Mountain Cricks.
Ok, but what about the CART vs IndyCar wars...... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve heard of that happening several times over the years. Some did just as you said, but never made anything of it (marketability I presume). There have been a number of pro racers that have done sim races on Forza over the years (can’t remember names as I haven’t played in a long time) and those races were “invite only” events to the people that had a good rep in-game.
i remember that, that was internecine warfare...
Max is the most naturally talented driver to hit F1 since downforce became “a thang.” But there is no comparison to drivers before that because before F1 teams got religion about downforce, their skills were completely different. Back in the days of Stewart, Andretti and Lauda (and before), the fastest way through a corner usually was sideways. The cars now are so composed, the only time you see a car slide is when something breaks or the driver screws up the corner. Which robs the sport of much of its drama.
And it’s tragic how many incredibly talented drivers (like Verstappen)) languished on mediocre teams since Mercedes “bought the pot” at the introduction of the turbo-hybrid V-6 engine format. To their credit, only Merc recognized and took to heart just how niggardly to “token” system of limiting development was, and they won seven consecutive WCCs by spending (at least) a quarter of a billion USD on developing their 2014 engine. From 2014 through 2020, regardless who won the WDC, it was a certainty their car would be a Mercedes.
It was ironic that back then Merc team manager Niki Lauda lambasted the FIA for potentially creating “Formula Engine” with the turbo-hybrid V-6 format when he knew all the while that Mercedes was putting the finishing touches on an engine that would give them such a performance advantage that they would dominate the era.
And Hambone pays well more attention to his grooming than any straight man who ever lived (hint, hint).
ROTFLMAO ....... STAY SAFE BUB !!!
IMHO ......nope.
yeah pro nascar racers do iracing frequently- especially during covid when they couldn’t race- but even now- they do it for practice i guess- and televise it too- they held a contest for the season online racing- it was pretty fun to watch as they got to relax and have a good time racing for a change- the announcers were pretty funny throughout it too-
other than the nancygirl announcer

Easy enough. CART should have stayed CART with Al Jr, Al Sr., Rick Mears, Emmerson Fittapaldi, etc.
The rest of them should have gone to IRL.
tony hg should be stuck with the leftovers in his IRL.
Yep, Tony’s pants got too big…..
