“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated: but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. . . . This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be ‘cured’ against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” —C.S. Lewis
There may be (partial) true believers ala AOC, but the Klaus Schwabs, Hilary Clintons, etc. don't really believe it. But they will try to convince enough morons into it and use them as fodder against those who see through the bullpucky.

To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior ‘righteous indignation’ Thanks to Hegel and his theory of heroes + Nietzche and his theory of supermen and the will to power, some people believe that might makes right and the ends justify the means and that heroes and supermen transcend the ordinary moral judgment that is applied to the masses.

It’s almost like he had a crystal ball, writing that for an American audience in a post-Trump era….
post-Trump era?
Hillary Clinton was trying to manufacture a villain decades earlier with her 'vast right wing conspiracy' claim.
This kind of politicking has been going on long before the post-Trump era.
