A 15-year-old died when a group allegedly stole a Maserati and crashed it early Sunday in Florida.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, 15-year-old Keondrick Lang, 15-year-old Mario Bonilla, and 16-year-old Malachi Daniels had been looking for unlocked cars in the Saint Petersburg area, Insider reported Sunday.
The group apparently located an unlocked Maserati with the keys still inside the vehicle.

I wonder if a Rolls comes with a spare these days? A lot of cars they’re optional..or not available at all. Although “run flat” tires ride harsh, so I wouldn’t think they’d be used on a Roller.

Yup - after the hurricane while everyone is trying to get back to normal it’s a good time to steal a Maserati. They got what they deserved.

Who leaves their Maserati unlocked with keys in it?? Maybe someone who just got this month's repair bill, that was even higher than last month's.

The group apparently located an unlocked Maserati with the keys still inside the vehicle. Dang! I don’t even leave my Mazda unlocked. Anywhere.
Leaving a Maserati unlocked? They’re either crazy or they wanted it to be stolen. And who would want that?
I can drive a stick shift. I’ll take it.

One of the other two is not expected to make it, and the third one is in critical condition, meaning he may not make it either.

A lot of times it’s the anti theft device acting wonky.

He couldn’t get a good trade-in price on a new Tesla, thus...leaving the keys in it over night. The insurance company might balk, though I think the finance companies don't want exclusions for negligence.
To: Rummyfan
Progressive Insurance (yeah, I know) says:
As long as you have comprehensive coverage, you can file a claim if your car is stolen while left running. Comprehensive can still pay to replace your vehicle if it's stolen while your keys are inside it or if you left it running.
I think the finance companies want it that way, they have a lot of clout (lobbyists) and they don't want to get stuck for the insured's negligence. The coverage protects the lien holder.

Maseratis haven’t had stick shifts for years. A 2016 4-door Ghibli or Quattroporte certainly wouldn’t in any case.

We came across a new red Torino GT with the 429 Cobra Jet engine, doors unlocked and keys in it. We didn’t even crank it up, we just looked inside and then left. Wise choice!
