Vice President Kamala Harris accidentally commended the country’s strong alliance with the “Republic of North Korea” during a speech at the Demilitarized Zone located on the Korean Peninsula, likely meaning to refer to the “Republic of Korea,” which is South Korea’s name.
The slip-up came during the vice president’s first visit to the DMZ on Thursday, where Harris vowed U.S. support for South Korea against the North Korean government. The DMZ acts as a buffer zone between the two countries. Harris's visit came just one day after North Korea fired a third ballistic missile into the sea, following two other missile firings that occurred while she was visiting Japan.
"I cannot state enough that the commitment of the United States to the defense of the Republic of Korea is iron-clad and that we will do everything in our power to ensure that it has meaning in every way that the words suggest," Harris said, according to Fox News. “In the North, we see a brutal dictatorship, rampant human rights violations, and an unlawful weapons program that threatens peace and stability.”
Harris denounced North Korea’s government and its “illicit weapons program” during a speech on Wednesday at the U.S. Fleet Activities in Yokosuka. Harris’s stop at the DMZ was the final stop of her diplomatic trip to Asia.
efore visiting the DMZ, Harris met with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol to discuss the countries' economic and technological alliances. During that meeting, the two world leaders also condemned North Korea for its threats of nuclear tests.
Shortly after her speech, Harris departed from Osan Air Base to head to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

When asked to clarify, Harris said: “It has to be North because out of all the directions - North, East, West, and the other one, North is the one that, throughout history, is consistently North, and North knows North best, therefore North.”

You cannot make this stuff up. Joe and Kamala share an ALLIANCE with North Korea! The freedom loving Americans in our country DO NOT SHARE an alliance with North Korea. This was not a gaff on her part. I believe she was speaking from her heart and with full knowledge that Kim’s dictatorship is in line with how the Biden admin is handling the political persecution of its enemies.
