This is where the government will hide during a nuclear war
NY Post ^ | June 12 2017 | Susannah Cahalan

Maybe Doomsday preppers aren’t so crazy after all.

As nuclear threats loom from countries like Iran and North Korea, the US is knocking the dust off decades-old bunkers intended to protect government officials — and even start a new civilization — in the case of just such a nightmare event.

Journalist Garrett Graff takes readers through the 60-year history of the government’s secret Doomsday plans to survive nuclear war in his painstakingly researched book “Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government’s Secret Plan to Save Itself — While the Rest of Us Die” (Simon & Schuster), out now.

He focuses on the Cold War-era government bunkers across the country that were built to house the President and various Washington elites — members of a so-called “shadow government” in the worst nuclear Armageddon scenario.

We are like Wile-coyote who just ran off the cliff—hanging in the air. The end result is not in question. We are simply paused for comic effect.

I’m starting to wonder how some of ‘youse guys’ survived 2007-2009.

I did just fine.

This is different. The excessive spending has got to be financed, and that is going to cost a lot. As the government rolls over its debt, they will pretty much triple the interest cost.

If you live within your means—with minimal debt…you will be fine. If you leveraged your car, home, and every day expenses, it might get a little tight.

It’s not the end of the world. It’s just a can that has been kicked down the road for a few years.

“the elites have a safe space to survive if they bring on the war”

Lol.

Even Mike Tyson knew how crazy that was:

“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

Their stupid helicopters will get blown out of the sky long before they get to any shelters.

How many chronic leukemia patients will there be from the resultant radiation in the atmosphere? I’m one of those paying the price from the atmospheric testing of the fifties and sixties. I don’t wish my broken chromosomes on anyone else.

Remind us all again, which foreign country has Biden sent US troops to invade?

There are may ways to fight a war other than putting your own troops on the field.

We are seeing a major demo of that now. We are sending billions of high tech equipment to Ukraine, money that they need to pay their war expenses and military to teach them how to use the high tech equipment.

In effect we have made the Ukrainians our mercenary army...paid killers.

It’s disappointing to see so many Freepers supporting Biden and his warmongering

Most, if not all, are supporting the Ukrainian people, not their government which has done more to harm the country than the Russians, to date. Ukraine did not invade Russia.

So what you are saying is that its OK for Russia to invade a smaller country who should surrender and return itself back to Russian rule?

Do you have any idea what it is like to live under Russian rule, and why the people of Ukraine have said they’d rather be nuked than ruled by Russians again?

Every one of those hideouts are likely known to the Russians, and multiple warheads are target for each one.

“Si what you are saying is that its OK for Russia to invade a smaller country who should surrender and return itself back to Russian rule?”

I’m saying I want to focus on America, not squabbles half a world away. That’s why I supported Trump and not Jeb Bush for the nomination in 2016. Trump was for America First and Make America Great Again. Jeb was for continuing the globalism and foreign wars and meddling of his brother and Dick Cheney.

Biden and you folks who support him should send your own money to Ukraine. Don’t grab tax money from me and my family to pursue your Ukraine-First obsessions

“If the enemy knows where it is, they’ll bomb the surface and you’ll be stuck in a tomb.”

Do you really think they haven’t thought of that?

"Let's see if this decision is better than those other decisions."

In their minds, yes. They'll have the Mockingbirds out touting "rally 'round the flag", while simultaneously villifying half the population as a danger to "our democracy"tm, touting the trampling of civil liberties as essential to preserving "our democracy"tm

~~~
They probably have. I thought of it right when I posted it. I guess I'd plan for it by putting some equipment down there too. Dig your way out?
It's such a dismal thought. What would you even be coming out for? If the whole thing is the real deal, being surface side wont be anything to desire either.
One of the places USG employees will be sent to is located along the Application Trail, the first road outside the shenandoah national park north of the AT in the park; this bomb shelter is easily identified by the old buildings and thousand meter chainlink fence keeping the AT just to the left of the creek and right of the fence. You literally walk about one mile along this fence. However, the site is located at southern permeniter of the fence;)
About 10 years ago, the USG actually moved HQ elements from DC agencies to this spot but they were not aware where they went too.
I stayed at hostel located to right a quarter mile walk. I was hiking S.Bound that trip on the AT.
The small town of Culpeper nearby, as well as Beltsville MD are good locations to find an official government center for shelter.
So when we sent billions of equipment to England and Russia in WW2 to help them defend against Germany’s aggression, were we “war mongering”???
Yep...fer shur...that’s exactly where they are going to go.
They are gonna publish their secret hidey holes.
Oh, they HAVE hidey holes.
They are just not for you. At all.
The people that they are for already know about them, already know where they are and already have plans in place to get there.
They are very well stocked, very well powered, and very well protected.
You and I will never see the inside of one.
“They have to come out sometime, and there will be no serfs to serve them.”
Nor uncontaminated food, water, or atmosphere. The conditions of semidarkness, killing frosts, and subfreezing temperatures, combined with high doses of radiation from nuclear fallout, would interrupt plant photosynthesis and could thus destroy much of the Earth’s vegetation and animal life. The extreme cold, high radiation levels, and the widespread destruction of industrial, medical, and transportation infrastructures along with food supplies and crops would trigger a massive death toll from starvation, exposure, and disease. A nuclear war could thus reduce the Earth’s human population to a fraction of its previous numbers.
In the 1970s, however, several studies posted that the layer of ozone in the stratosphere that shields living things from much of the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation might be depleted by the large amounts of nitrogen oxides produced by nuclear explosions. And the first of the blasts will be stratosphere.
This is not going to be like WW II where there were two actual combat nudets at 15 and 20 kilotons. The devices we use today are over 60 times bigger than those in 1945. And there won’t be 2. Russia possesses an estimated 6,300 nuclear warheads as of 2022, the largest stockpile of nuclear warheads in the world; the second-largest stockpile is the United States’ 5,428 warheads. Russia’s deployed missiles (those actually ready to be launched) number about 1,588, second to the United States’ 1,644. Even if they can come up...to what?
It is my experience that newcomers that come in with obvious screen names like yours and spam forum and take on a persona immediately are shills and operatives and I am telling you directly you are suspect.
And by the Eternal they will have gotten Putin and the Russians!
I can’t understand conservatives who are still falling for the claptrap from US intelligence agencies and the DOD. They get lied to repeatedly, made to look like fools throughout the 90’s then 911, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and yet they run to this BS like starving dogs and lap up anything the CIA/NSA/DOD or the Biden regime trots out there like Moses himself proclaimed it from Mt. Sinai! They are lying, just like the Russians and the Ukrainians but we got to stick our noses in this and get another glorious war for the deep state and the warmongers stuck in 1982.
The Ukraine isn’t of any strategic value to the USA yet we are going to push the button so to speak for this sh8thole of a country that is corrupt and used by BOTH sides for their dirty deals. And the warmongers act like in a few weeks all will return to normal after a nuclear exchange, are you that damned stupid? Yeah there are things worth fighting for even going to nuclear war but the Ukraine isn’t one of them unless your just a nutcase or war happy.
