I know what a Cologuard test is..you are allowed to get one every three years.

And it is NOT the test I was talking about. I said BLOOD TEST

btw, the Sept 9 test can be done by stool sample as well but I think it is harder to get in terms of self ordering it

Wrong - I my doctor at Assention St John begs me to take the packet home *every* year

It’s covered for FREE under preventive care

You simply don’t know what you’re talking about
I have to load that crap up and mail it to the lab *every* year.

Come and watch me do it like Katie

And I get a yearly blood test that checks for all sorts of things including glucose levels. That’s free too. Whatever insurance you have must suck

They dont do Cologuard every year with many insurances including Medicare.

Every three years.

https://www.cancer.org/cancer/colon-rectal-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/screening-coverage-laws.html

If you can get it paid for every year then you should do it every year

If people think they can get Cologuard every year it is not common. Check with your insurance company. Perhaps Union insurance allows it. Most limit it to every three years.

Here is an example with Blue Cross Blue Shield

I’m not old enough for Medicare

I left Blue Cross Blue Shield after they kept raising their premiums for less coverage year after year. Two years later I received a $600 check from them for overcharging me and many others. They’re held in check my regulation based on their expenditures and premium ratios and had to issue refunds

I’m due for a colonoscopy (I think I’m supposed to get one every 4 years), but I also got a mailer for testing poop and mailing it in (is that Cologuard?). But then iirc I was reading something (on FR?) where if the Cologuard gives a certain reading then you won’t be covered by insurance for a colonoscopy later. That’s probably not right, but there was some sort of complication where folks were saying to be careful and check out everything before doing the poop-in-the-mail thing. It sounds like you know what’s up - any comments or suggestions?

If you test positive then it is likely now considered diagnostic subject to your deductible. Same with the Septin 9 test.

Cologuard can have issues sometimes with people who have hemorrhoids.

Of course some insurances may view it differently

So it doesn’t affect further treatment. Just on how much I pay for the test depends on the result (and my insurance plan!). Thanks a bunch!

cant say it wont affect further treatment. ...that I have no idea. I havent experienced it. I just know if it flips a positive then all the testing around your colon could now be considered diagnostic instead of preventive. I dont know how long that lasts where your insurance considers it diagnostic...like if you dont get a colonoscopy versus you get one and are cleared.

Also once you test positive from Cologuard you likely can push for more types of testing that you might not get without that positive. Perhaps like a CEA test, etc
