Less than 325,000 of America's youngest children are fully vaccinated as hesitancy continues to dog the pandemic response.
Why it matters: Health officials are sounding the alarm over the potential of low child vaccination rates fueling transmission and carrying the risk of severe illness for some of the youngest Americans.
"What's at stake really with this is that we're going to be setting up a bunch of kids for risk of severe disease in the future," Daniel Blatt, a pediatric infectious disease physician at the University of Louisville and Norton Children's Hospital, told Axios. "We don't really know what the next variant is gonna be. And the way to get ahead of that next variant is to give children a blueprint on how to fight it and that's what the vaccine does." Zoom in: In D.C., which has the highest percentage of young children vaccinated, less than one quarter of children 6 months to four years old have received one dose— and 7.5% have received both doses, per the Washington Post.
The states with some of the lowest child vaccination rates — Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi — have vaccination rates of less than 0.2%, the Post found. The big picture: The Food and Drug Administration in June authorized COVID-19 vaccines for children between 6 months and 5 years — about a year and a half after the first vaccines were made available for vulnerable adults.
Children under 5 have had the highest rates of hospitalization from COVID among youth, per the CDC. State of play: Vaccine hesitancy is typically amplified among parents making decisions about their children's health, Blatt said.
"If a child is going to do something or we're going to do something to a child, a parent will always be more nervous if that child is younger, and we're seeing that with the COVID vaccine." Vaccine misinformation and insufficient communication about vaccinations are both contributing to the low rates, Peter Hotez, an infectious-disease physician and pediatrician at the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, told the Post. "We haven’t done a good job explaining the long-term developmental consequences of long covid for younger children," Hotez said. The bottom line: "We do lots of things for safety for children ... they wear bicycle helmets, they eat nutritious food, they get regular checkups," Blatt said.
"These are things that are part of a routine medical care, and COVID vaccines, just like other routine vaccinations, is just part of the whole picture to keep a child safe."
“Experts alarmed by (low) COVID vaccination rates among America’s youngest kids”
Pharmaceutical CEOs alarmed by (low) COVID vaccination rates among America’s youngest kids
There, fixed it
Is this post Babylon Bee? This is Twilight Zone stuff. Why are we pushing this? The vaccines don’t work.
Is there any study evidence they make Covid cases lest deadly?
There were other pictures in other suits where she looked better. I think you are right, they intentionally used that awful suit for the controversy.
The pandemic is over, and besides healthy folks under 50 never should have been asked to receive the shot.
Yeah, some rather obscure “ experts”
And then, there are other experts
Like the ones exposing data that vaxx actually increases the risk of children contracting ‘ covid”
And that the side effects of the vaxx are far deadlier than natural infection
These “experts” are alarmed that their kill ratios are not going to be high enough to meet the depopulation demands of the the demonic/insane globalists.
Big pharm are going to be so pizzed off at preezy biden for spouting that the covid pandemic is over and done with. Other than their toxic rna poisins killing kids hearts, what other reason do parents on the edge need to say “no way” to these shots?
$$$$$$$$$$$$
Where do we go to verify how expert the expert are?

someone needs to do a deep dive on these two and their hospitals and see how much big pharma funding is there
cuz i am thinking that these two vaxx salesmen say we need more vaxx
Insofar "the shot" is worthless, dangerous garbage -- regardless of age -- no one should have been asked to receive it. The Emergency Use Authorization should have never been granted in the first place.
There's no vaccine "hesitancy". These people have certainty about not taking the Jim Jones Jab.
What the propagandists won't dare talk about is how many parents are not getting their kids the regularly scheduled vaccines because they no longer trust the medical industry. Who would blame them?
This is 100% on Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, the Democrats, and the Propaganda Media.
Truth!
"How are we supposed to achieve a godless Marxist utopia with all these healthy kids around?", fumed non-binary furry therapist Sweet Spiritoid Raccoongurrl while rooting through a dumpster behind zer welfare-provided home in the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess luxury hotel. /sarcasm
Population Control zealots are concerned humans aren’t dying fast enough.
This is not incompetence, it’s criminal
For the jillionth time: see tag.
Should I change the tag? Considering Dementia FJB said Sunday night, “COVID is over.”
You mean they are worried the kids aren’t dying fast enough from the vaccine?
Is there any mention of how many 4 year olds, and younger, in these states are coming down with or expiring from Covid?
I think they are on schedule, but don’t have enough takers.
