Recent research has demonstrated that as many as 200 million people in the Americas and Europe have Jewish ancestry who were forcibly converted.
…The process for certification begins with filling out a relatively short questionnaire about a person’s background, clues about their Jewish heritage, like customs, family trees or items with a Jewish connection, and their reasons for believing they have Sephardi ancestry. This information will then be assessed by a team of experts and researchers who will determine if the applicant has enough information to be awarded the certificate...
…While the certificate will have no legal status, it is something that a growing number of those with Jewish ancestry have suggested would be an enormous sense of pride and identity for them...

How convenient. The Catholic version of history.
Spain never forced Jews to the New World. And the Inquisition did not force conversions to Catholicism.
First, deportations to the new world is simply absurd because of the dangers transporting populations across the Atlantic represented.
How would they have done so? Think about that for a moment.
When the Jews were deported they were sent to other countries in Europe.
Second, The stories about the inquisition are highly propagandized the enemies of Spain and of the Catholic Church. The actual records and testimony doesn’t support the claim that there was a “program or effort to force conversions to Catholicism.”

New Mexicans, and those with SW US Mexico heritage are finding through DNA that many of them have both Jewish and Native American heritage. As a student of that genealogy I have seen many talk about getting their Spanish citizenship and also discovering the Jewish heritage they never knew.
My own mother was from New Mexico and we thought she was completely Hispanic. Spanish. It’s a big source of pride in New Mexico to be Spanish and never to have intermarried with the Indians and to have white skin.
It turns out that it was only about half Spanish on her part and 35% Native American of some kind. And about 6% Jewish in the mix.
“200 million?”
Oy vey.
They had a strong presence all around the Mediterranean.
Imagine my surprise- I had one of those DNA tests done a few years back, and found out I was 20% Sephardic Jew, and 5% Ashkenazi. Also 40% Greek, about 20% Sardinian and some Italian, and Western Asian, of all things.
I was adopted at 5 months, and my parents were told I was Italian.
I should try applying for that.
It’s funny, I was baptized and raised Roman Catholic, and some of my ancestors were thrown out of Spain by the Roman Catholic King of Spain.
“Prove it.”

The citizenship, arrival times of people, and properties and locations lived and subsequent family members are all official records.
Otherwise, they would be illegals in their new lands, too.
Enjoy the suck.
“How convenient. The Catholic version of history.”
You’re the kind of person who would complain about cancer doctors being out of work if Trump found a cure for it.
Read this carefully: YOU JUST DENIED THAT CATHOLICS COLONIZED LATIN AMERICA. There’s a reason why it is called LATIN AMERICA, honey. It was Catholics who established ALL of the libraries, universities, dioceses, tribunals, and archives that housed the records of the inquisitions.
That’s not “convenient”. It’s undeniable history, honey.
It’s because they were the ONLY ONES THERE who built any archive of substance from the 16th century until the 19th century. To say or think otherwise is to be a moron.
The lengths you anti-Catholics go to to deny reality is incredible.
“The citizenship, arrival times of people, and properties and locations lived and subsequent family members are all official records.”
And none of them show Jews were to be killed for not converting.
“Otherwise, they would be illegals in their new lands, too.”
And they were very much ALIVE.
“Enjoy the suck.”
You can’t even make an argument. You literally are jumping from one inconsistent and unattached idea to the other and you’re proving virtually nothing except that I was right from the start.
Some went to the New World, and were treated as outsiders, there.
The Alhambra Decree gave people 90 days to leave, convert, or die (if you stayed).
Imagine that some went within 90 days and others went first to another country, then to the New World.
That may help you.
My husband is a descendant of these converses. His YDNA is J-m172. His ancestors lived in New Mexico before there was a United States.
I need to correct my Author’s religious background. Rodney Stark was Raised Lutheran. He would later call himself a Cultural Christian.

Among the exhibition's jewels is one of just two documented Spanish copies of the Alhambra Decree, the 1492 edict signed by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, who ordered the Sephardim to convert or leave within 90 days.
“It's what started the whole movement, the diaspora,” said Josef Diaz, chief curator of the exhibit. “To think you had only three months to convert and change your entire belief system or flee. It's very powerful. It's a scary, powerful document. That's the one that just moves me the most.”
“After the Alhambra Decree is issued, it was illegal to be Jewish anywhere in the Spanish world,” Levine said. “[It was] on pain of death. If you were Jewish, you were quite clandestine anywhere in the Spanish Empire.”
Anyone suspected of practicing Judaism risked the wrath of a new, terrifying organization: the Spanish Inquisition.
Established in Spain in 1478, the Inquisition began active investigations in 1480. The next 40 years would see a wave of persecution of crypto-Jews, or conversos who secretly practiced Judaism, in Spain and to some extent in the Americas, Martinez-Davila said.
Alhambra Decree sent the Jews during the time of Isabella of Spain and Ferdinand.
Are you seriously claiming that in the late 15th Century wide scale transportation across the Atlantic was even possible, given the American continent wasn’t even discovered.
Think about that logic there. They had 90 days, but they somehow had to go to the New World no one knew about, and which had only recently discovered.
That is absurd. What actually happened was they went to places like Italy, Dutch lands, and the Ottoman Empire.
You’re still not posting any evidence that Jews were to be forcibly converted and if not that then killed.
Why not?

The article I am posting from the Time of Israel is clearly stating Jews were to be killed.
How much clearer do you need that to be said, Vlad?
I said some went to other places, then there.
Good point.
It was 1492. Columbus began his voyage months later.
No one in Spain knew the New World even existed yet.
This means that the conversos who traveled to the Americas lived for decades and decades as Catholics meaning they were either faithful Catholics or they were sell outs to their Jewish faith who pretended to be Catholics so they could keep their property.
