A 77-year-old man was attacked and killed Sunday by a wild kangaroo that authorities believe he kept as a pet at his home in southwest Australia, police said. His death marked the first fatal kangaroo attack in Australia in 86 years. A relative of the man found him with “serious injuries” on his property in Redmond, a semi-rural area about 250 miles southeast of Perth. Investigators believe the kangaroo turned on him and attacked him hours before he was found by his relative.

Kangaroo versus pit bull. Who wins?

I gather from discussion with Aussies that the kangaroo takes roughly the same place in Australian hunting culture that the whitetail deer takes in American hunting.

‘Roo kicks pit bull. Pit bull bounces off Ayers Rock, shakes it’s head, and wonders WTBH just happened ...

Then downs a Foster’s.

I find those full sized, adult kangaroos disturbing to be near. If I was raised in Australia I might feel differently.
Kangaroos look like giant, jumping Rats who are focused solely on their survival. They’re very smart, but with a primative mind.
I’ve heard of cases where someone’s dog began chasing a ‘Roo near a stream, only to have the Roo grab the dog’s head and try to drown the dog in that stream.

He wasn’t bitten to death. That’s for sure.

The old guy was probably trying to house train him and he didn’t like it.

A kangaroo is on the loose in Florida. Vanilla Ice’s animal guy says it knows ‘it’s time to have fun.’

I once thought about having a dingo as a pet. I even found a breeder in North Carolina, but my daughter, who lives in Australia, told me it was a very bad idea. She knows a few people there with them, and their dingos, have to be kept with a muzzle at all times and are incredibly jumpy.

“You never know when those wild instincts will kick in”

This is why I never would own a Pit Bull.

Just yesterday my 5.5 lb Long Haired Male Chihuahua was sitting next to me on the couch. I leaned over to give him some loves and the little basT#rd bit me on the finger. It kind of hurt even though he didn’t break the skin. Mostly just surprised me.
My wife says to me that he has been in a bad mood. Leave him alone.

If that had been a Pit Bull, I might have ended up in the ER.

The animal didn’t know the meaning of the word “pet.”

Australian man killed by wild kangaroo that was believed to be his pet

I guess nobody asked the kangaroo.

Shortly before I was born the story goes that my grandpa found a fawn whose mother had been killed and he kept it. My brothers, sister, and cousins named it Linky and would play with it. As it grew it started getting agressive with the kids. One day they showed up and couldn't find their pet deer. They went in to lunch that grandma had set out and asked, "Where's Linky?" Then they sat down and had a nice venison steak.

We have possums here in the US who are pets. One guy and his friend used to go to Flame broiler for a chicken bowl.
