In a way, they’re right. But they need to find the Goldilocks Zone. In general, we (the worker bees) all work too much. That takes a toll.
Nine-to-five? That’s not a hamster wheel, that’s coasting! Admirable if one’s life has spiritual meaning, but coasting is just a slow hamster wheel if modest materialism is the end and not a means.
Soft men make hard times.
Hard times make hard men.
Hard men good times.
Good times make soft men.
Repeat.
There is no “traditional” 9-to-5 career anymore.
Half your time is spent in regulatory bureaucracy and learning how racist and sexist you are.
A third of your income goes to taxes directed to immoral socialist causes.
A traditional career used to offer an honest living. Those days are gone.
The term “soft” lends itself to criticism. But it sounds like this guy has figured out how to support himself without having to answer to a boss. More power to him.
I remember when we used to have fun at work. We got a lot done, but we also laughed and had fun.
Friends and family of mine all around the country remember that too, so it just me.

This would be fine if you didn’t age but you do age. Good luck having anything like a secure retirement.
“Quiet Quitting” caused the Civil War.
That's hilarious.
Don’t hire them.
I have no issue with this - as long as these people take no money for government assistance now and aren’t agitating to increase government benefits in their retirement years since they will have no savings.
Anyone want to guess as to the likelihood that will occur?
And people in hell WANT ice water. I’d WANT to live a soft and stress-free life, but life itself has other plans.
