Russia Is Prolonging The Gas Shutoff
American Thinker ^ | 9 Sep, 2022 | Jerome Corsi

Europe, which went all in on “green” energy, is facing the ugly reality of renewable fuels.

Perhaps the only true benefit of the current European energy crisis is to make apparent to an economically motivated citizen population that “wishing and hoping” will not make the Green New Deal renewable energy dream a reality. Instead of doubling down on wind and solar power, the EU nations are reacting to Moscow’s natural gas shutdown with a scramble to find enough hydrocarbon fuels to keep Europeans warm this winter.

On September 5, Russia announced that the shutdown of natural gas to Europe to make repairs Nord Stream 1 pipeline would not resume in full until the “collective West” lifts sanctions against Moscow over the Ukraine invasion. Since the EU appears determined to “punish” Moscow, the reality is that Europe may have seen the last of Russian gas for a very long time.

The failure of renewables to fill a viable role in the energy grids needed to fuel an advanced industrial economy has forced European energy ministers to do what once was unthinkable—return to nuclear power. German Economy Minister Robert Habeck won his push to keep nuclear power plants online. On September 5, Germany responded to Russia’s announcement by keeping two nuclear plants available this winter in a policy shift extending the legislative and regulatory deadlines that climate activists had demanded to phase-out nuclear power plants.

Russia’s announcement also marked the death knell for US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s encouragement to G7 finance heads this past June that they should cap the global price of Russian natural gas and oil. Since the Ukraine invasion began, Russia has earned 158 billion euros ($157.60 billion) exporting oil and natural gas, with Russia planning to increase oil shipments to Asia to compensate for cutting off

They laughed at Trump when he tried to warn them. The bad part is that leftists never seem to learn.

Seen the last of Russian gas?

Or are the Russian LNG imports just being laundered through other countries?

China Is Quietly Reselling Its Excess Russian LNG To Europe

Yes, it’s being laundered back to Europe at 10X the cost.

But the simple fact is that Europe does not have the LNG terminal and storage capacity to meet its needs, even if every LNG tanker on all the oceans was sent to Europe.

Plus, Europe scooping up all available LNG tankers is wrecking the economies of poorer countries, who now cannot afford LNG at all, priced out of the market by Europe.

One of the three Chinese curses is: "May you get what you wish for."

Europe is getting its green utopia good and hard.

Europe would be better off not trusting Russia for its gas and America for its defense

As goes Europe, so goes Europe. American leftists will learn NOTHING from this very object lesson.

Win/solar electrical generation DOES NOT WORK.

Hydroelectric, coal, natural gas, Diesel, and nuclear DO work. Reliably, both as a standby and as a baseline source of generation of electric power.

And nuclear power CAN work, with the newer technology that has been developed. Thorium-fueled molten salt reactors eliminate very nearly every objection ever raised to older uranium-fueled light water reactors, and there is no, nada, zero, zilch chance that a “China Syndrome” situation with radioactive release could ever occur. So you could set the thorium nuclear reactor right in the middle of a populated area, eliminating the need for long transmission lines, likewise right next to the industrial centers that have huge demand for electrical power.

We should be starting construction of one new thorium-fueled molten salt reactor every week. In five years’ time we would be totally energy-independent by nuclear power generation ALONE. And in the cleanest way possible short of developing fusion power, an elusive dream that is always “thirty years away”.

China's top energy firms are sending natural gas to European nations struggling with Russia's supply cuts

Meanwhile, Russia's Gazprom said Tuesday it plans to sell gas to China in both rubles and yuan to shift away from the euro.

Since war in Ukraine began. Russia's increased trade with China has helped bolster domestic demand for the yuan.

I keep asking where is the transition plan for switching to Green Energy? The Libs plan is to block, sue, deny permits or building and permanently close any energy source which is not Green! Typical Lib destroy but don’t have a transitional plan to implement a change. They do not care how much damage their actions causes, you know ‘the end justifies the means’. Well I expect riots in Europe starting in Winter and once the food shortage hits, all bets are off! Creating a policy of no jobs, no money, no energy and no food is a plan which will not end well.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You would think that in the highest positions of government, with their responsibility for the lives of millions, that you would have the “best and brightest”. Instead, it’s been glaringly apparent for some decades now, that we have the “worst and most stupid”.

DJT excluded as he’s the ONLY one who truly seems to care about the citizens of the country rather than lining his own pockets & power/control at any expense. Those we have in office now have made it clear they want us all dead (deomocide, working on no energy/food). Unfortunately, most people are unable to wrap their heads around this fact and unless and until they do, people will continue to die and America will cease to exist as founded, if it survives at all.

“thorium-fuelled molten salt reactors” do not now exist and probably never will, at least outside some research facility. Oak Ridge tried it and gave it up as a bad idea when they couldn’t make it work safely or reliably.
