I'm starting to think there could be some civil liberty problems with this whole electric car thing

Things are going more or less normally out in sunny ol' California this week...

...but I gotta say, this is more than a little alarming:

In case you're having trouble reading that, the message declares:

The current heat wave is expected to stress California's grid this weekend. Use the Scheduled Departure setting to ensure your vehicle is charged and preconditioned to your preferences at time of departure, while avoiding charging during higher price evening hours between 4-9 PM.

Reading that message like:

I mean, look, a few things are very obvious here:

There are a ton of government officials in California who would love to be able to control your automobile and tell you when you can drive it and when you can't. The technology could easily allow for that level of control by government officials.

It is not implausible to imagine that many if not most of the big players in the electric car industry would be sympathetic to those aims and might very well cooperate with them.

Is this at all becoming clear?

It won't be long, folks. Get ready.

That’s why they want petroleum to become unobtainium, too.

Energy is freedom, and civilization.

That’s why the deep state wants to choke it off.

The plan is to allow us to use our vehicles when the all-powerful government decides we can. they can’t implement that just yet, so they do it incrementally.

New cars in general, but especially EVs.

I think that there are a few things coming up shortly. There will be a lot of used EV’s on the market soon and the sale of gas cars will go up.

If I lived in California, I’d invest in a 1970’s era car with points and a carburetor, meaning no modern electronics of any sort. The cops now have a gun that will kill your car’s computer via directed EMP. If that happens to a car just a few years old and if the computer is available, it will be used with no warranty and could cost a few thousand dollars.

I already know from experience if the cops cause damage they will not pay for it.

I can’t remember which model and year EV my buddy had but this was several years ago. He was in an accident. The adjuster came out, sat in the car and downloaded the accident. Included was video and audio of him and his wife. He had no idea there was a camera pointed at them or that all this information was being recorded.

I’m sorry ______but your scheduled departure time is not allotted until 8:46 AM, your vehicle may not be operable until that time. Please file any adjustments you require with the Ministry of Power 24 hours in advance.
Have a nice day

I have my issues with electric cars, to be sure.

My NUMBER ONE issue is that if the powers that be want to shut off the power and strand us all, it’s very simple for them to do so.

No sale.....

They want a lot of Americans to finally say to themselves -

“I can’t depend on my automobile anyway to get where I’m going. I need to bite the bullet and move from the suburbs to the urban center where there is public transportation.”

All logical conclusions; however, when time comes to buy new
car, no financing available for new (other than those (controlable) EV’s.....what does one do? Skateboard?

These folks are NUTS and getting fruitier by the day.

My wife and I are looking for a NEW car, Not USED, all cash, no financing.

Every dealership we have been to has very few ‘new’ cars, trucks or SUVs.

And the ones they do have are marked up thousands of dollars MORE than the mfr’s sticker price with what various dealers call ‘Fair Market Adjustment’ or some such idiocy.

We could buy any car on any lot up to $100k if need be, but we won’t pay the outrageous prices we see on the FEW new cars available...........................

There are some states where it is illegal to record someone without their knowledge. In some, the person being recorded needs to give express permission to be recorded, or else the person recording them has to pay a huge fine. I don’t know which state your buddy is in, but it might be worth looking into.

Y’know, one thing I have noticed is that the infrastructure to support electric vehicless simply isn’t being built.
Sure, they’re building chargers, but I don’t seem nukes or coal or NG plants being built in quantities necessary to support a massive transition to EVs. I don’t even see bird chopper farms, solar farms, or unicorn fart extractors being built to support the power requirements of EVs.
I would also like to point out that the known reserves of materials required to make enough batteries for such a transition simply don’t exist. And currently, EV batteries are not recyclable.
I don’t think ‘They’ plan to replace internal combustion vehicles.
I think they plan to end personal vehicles altogether, but not in the way you might think.
I’d say they planning to force us into dystopian arcologies and on to public transit, but I don’t seem them being built either. Well, there is sort of a prototype in Saudi Arabia. But, as I said, I don’t see the necessary urban housing under construction to force us out of the rural areas and suburbs and on to public transport.
I do see a notavax that has probably done more damage to its recipients than the disease it was supposed to stop did. I also see the notavax being inflicted on children and youths who were at pretty much zero risk for the disease. I see cases of “sudden,” “unexpected,” and enormous blood clots. I am expecting to see a massive drop in fertility among the jabbed; it might have already started. I also see attacks on agriculture, on power supplies, and fuel.
And there was that fellow who said the quiet part out loud: The Elites don’t need most of us to maintain their lifestyle.

I think we were always the carbon they wanted to reduce.
