Early on a Sunday morning in June, a tractor-trailer backed into the rear parking lot of the Navy Arms warehouse north of Martinsburg, W.V. Inside the truck’s shipping container were four huge wooden crates containing a long-forgotten batch of British No. 4 Lee-Enfield rifles with a unique history. Two green, military-style chests, each brimming with plastic-wrapped bolts, accompanied the wooden containers. Inside the warehouse sat cardboard boxes filled with newly made No. 4 rifle magazines, waiting for their recipients to be offloaded. Valmore Forgett, III, president and CEO of Navy Arms, had shepherded these guns from their storage spot in France to this final point on a long journey that first started on C-47s, B-24s and B-17s flying over war-torn France.

Interesting!
I wonder how the French government went about collecting all these rifles?
Did people turn them in willingly?
Inside a wall, a WW II era firearm and ammunition would be found.
Thought this was another Civil War thread!
Freeper Swamp Sniper reloaded for the K-31. Looks like about $1.50 a round these days, but reloading would allow use of common .308 bullets. As usual, primers would be an issue.
The time for that, for me, passed years ago when the rifles were still relatively cheap.
I miss ol’ Swampsniper.
I have a pretty nice K31 myself but have never tried reloading. The surplus ammo & Privi Partizan was reasonably priced, but not so much now. I need to upgrade the sights with a diopter type, but the genuine ones are ridiculously expensive.
I’ve never even fired my K-31. I’ve got a couple of boxes of shells. I think it was $140 at Big 5...but definitely a red-headed stepchild when it comes to taking it out and shooting it.
They’re fun to shoot & pretty accurate.
I like the trigger. Mechanically, it’s pretty interesting. I like the way the front sight drifts obliquely front to back, rather than side to side.
Yep, and the brand new Irish enfields, I used to see in Shotgun news back in the 90’s. Still kicking myself for not getting one, but they were $400! Way too much, lol.
