EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
Beautiful kitteh! Flame point, maybe?
Happy Friday ya'all!
Looks a little like Jake.
Good morning!
Sending up a prayer.
Squeeeee!
My mom used to say there was nothing quite as charming as a kitten.
I think she was right.
My condolences to you and to your country. What a strong, classy, intelligent leader Queen Elizabeth was. I hope Charles will at least try to respect her legacy.
I have visited the U.K. many times. Seeing the coverage on TV yesterday made me nostalgic. I want to go back for another visit.
Sometimes it works out like that! Actually, there is always a bit of luck (or lack thereof) involved for me, it seems...
w00t!
Good Morning!
Today was one of the lucky Wordle days for me with this 3 spot...

Is this a V-Model?
LOL - I just copy and paste.
Welp, I’ve been back from the MRI for a while. It wasn’t pleasant, but I had a nice conversation with God while I was in there, and that seemed to have helped.
We stopped at Walmart for my FS look for a VW model and I found my Karmann Ghia complete with a teardrop trailer! It’s the only Karmann Ghia I’ll ever have so I snapped it up! He found the VW he was looking for (MelloYello VW bus with a surfboard) so we both left happy.
It was when we got out of the truck at Walmart that I realized I still had my housekeys my jeans pockets. I thought for sure I had put them in my bag! I hope I don’t have to go do the MRI again. That’s too big a co-pay to make a habit of it!
Now, I have to finish my letter to Charlie before the mail carrier comes.
Alexa: Happy Friday. The weekend called. It’ll be here in a few hours.
Hopefully you won’t need to redo the MRI...
Are these the kind of models that come in pieces and you glue them together? Or are they already assembled?
I found my Karmann Ghia complete with a teardrop trailer!
Nice! My first car was a tan, convertible Kharmann Ghia. (Yes, I know that’s a standard security question/answer and I never select that one. LOL) I loved that car. I even had an 8-track player and decent speakers in it. (Thanks, Dad!) What lovely, youthful memories I have associated with my Ghia. To this day, there are certain songs that can invoke memories of driving around northern Virginia on a beautiful day with the top down and the music blasting, or driving in downtown Philly to a concert or baseball or hockey game with a couple of friends jammed in with me…(sigh…)
These are the Matchbox and/or HotWheels models.
I would have like one to put together, but I’m working on something else in that area. I have a Nativity “puzzle” that I want to put together — it’s about 8”X6”X3” wide. The one after that is a perpetual calendar. Sometimes, things are very hard for me to do, but I figure if I can put puzzles together, it will help to reset my mind.
Anyway, it was a fun trip with my FS as they all are.
I’ve wanted a Karmann Ghia ever since I was 22 and had my first ride in one. It was the same color as the one I got today — tan!! It was the only one or the last one, depending on your thinking! LOL! I prefer to think it was “the LAST ONE!”
I was happy to get it, but even happier that my FS found his. He’s probably already posted it on Facebook and if he has, I’ll ping you to it. He just added another set of shelves in his VW room. He said he had been looking at Facebook Marketplace for about a month looking for the right shelf, and this one fits underneath the window, in between a desk and another shelf.
So it was a good trip.
Cool - you got a tan one! Mine was a tan body, tan top and tan interior. One of these days, I’ll get to my photo albums in storage and scan a picture of it for you.
Glad FS got what he wanted too. He likes the VW vans? What an iconic hippie-mobile. I love that it came with a surfboard.
My brother had a blue VW bug (Beetle) back then. A lot of my friends had bugs. My high school swim coach had a green hard-top Ghia. Lots of VWs around in those days.
I just sent you a link so you can see his obsession! I have to admit, I’ve contributed! LOL!
If I can figure out how to post a photo on Facebook (things have changed since I first posted one) I’ll send a pic of my find!
I fell in love with the VWs after my first encounter, and I guess it got transferred to my son, just by being close to me. His love started when he was six.
