A77-year-old woman was bitten by an alligator near a pond in a gated community in Florida. The 7-foot, 10-inch alligator responsible for the attack has been captured, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said in a statement to CBS News. FWC received a report at about 6 p.m. on Saturday that a woman had been bitten by an alligator in Bradenton, Florida. An FWC nuisance alligator trapper was dispatched, and the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and Manatee County EMS also responded to the scene. After the woman was bitten, a witness kept an eye on the alligator until first responders were able to capture it. There were no other alligators in the area that fit the size and description, so officials are confident they removed the correct alligator from the area, FWC said in the statement. The woman was was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries. As of Monday morning, she was still under medical evaluation, the agency said. CBS News has reached out to the local sheriff's department, fire rescue and EMS for more information and is awaiting response. Last month, a woman was killed in an apparent alligator attack in a gated community South Carolina. When Beaufort County sheriff's deputies arrived on scene at the Sun City development, a large alligator was found by the woman's body. In July, two alligators killed a woman at a pond near her home in Sarasota County, Florida.

Ugh, ugly, bellycrawling reptiles. All over the southeast in ponds and bayous. The species found around Gainesville FL are especially repulsive.
They do. Then they are supposed to call Fish and Wildlife and they come and remove them above a certain size.
Are you a butt-hurt Utah fan?
The gates keep out the black people but not the alligators.
Yes, they need gaited-aid.
Who gave the gator the gate-door code?
Tip for you Gulf Coasters - if a gator comes at you, run at right angles to its’ line of travel. They’re pretty fast in a straight line but the can’t turn worth a damn.
Cute and cuddly.
Well, it’s estimated that there are more than a million of them in Florida; and I’m not sure how you ‘check routinely’ for a critter who lives half in water and owns Florida as its ‘hood’.
We just had some guests from Charleston area. They really enjoyed being able to swim in our lake. Apparently this is not something you can do there, if you’re smart, due to the presence of gators.
Took me a sec there 🤣
1/2 the neighborhood cries that we invaded their territory, the other 1/2 wants them gone when they become too large or a nuisance.
I always want to ask the cry babies where they think they are living. Development is OK for them, but as soon as any more houses developed it’s all crying about the poor animals and their habitat.

That’s a myth we tell newcomers to the state — just to watch them run zig-zag.

Hi.
Alligators in Florida are like grifters in DC, everywhere.
I’ve seen gators get into cars, pools, houses and climb over a fence.
They occupy football fields, and golf courses. Be careful bbq near a river or lake.
Depending on the wedding venue, they will be unwelcomed guests.
Gator is best served fried with honey mustard or Tabasco with your choice of lager.
Enjoy.

Especially the ones who wear Jorts...
They are the rats of the swamp! Time for some gator harvesting.
Tell me your not related.
I know, you’re the one on the right.
