Russia cuts off gas exports to Europe via Nord Stream indefinitely
CNN Business ^ | Uliana Pavlova and Anna Cooban

Russia won’t immediately resume exports of natural gas to Europe through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline, worsening a shortage that threatens to tip the continent into an energy crisis this winter.

On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.

It didn’t give a timeline of when exports might resume.

This twitter account has a lot of videos and tweets about the energy/farming situation in Europe. https://twitter.com/RadioGenova

Meanwhile all those EU countries are sending a couple billion here, couple billion there to Ukraine. The EU/NATO/US might cause Europeans to freeze this year. Take that Putin.

Things are different in this story, than in that cartoon that you like to post.

Russia is doing the cutoff. They are cutting off their own revenue.

People all over Europe are protesting right now over high fuel prices and farming issues.

I would call that a "crisis of legitimacy" for those governments. We have the same here with Joe Biden & his minions calling out 78M Americans that voted Republican 2 years ago, and defining a mostly peaceful protest at the capital on January 6th as "insurrection".

War may not make 'sense' but it does offer cover for governments to re-organize and gain greater control over their citizenry (if we can still call them that).

I'll tell you when. Never. The operational expertise and investment money from major energy companies is gone forever. They will never be willing to ramp back up. Europe will find alternatives in time out of necessity and the gas well heads will eventually be capped.

What I can't understand is that with all the money NordStream was making, they didn't have a storage yard full of spare compressors. I guess it's typical Russian oligarch "siphon off the money".

Agree on China’s coal plants, but my understanding is that much, if not most, of that coal is imported - which would not be the case if China was 90% energy independent, as stated by the other dude.

I remember when the reps from Germany were laughing at Prez Trump when he told Europe not to depend on Russia for energy resources.

One would think that after the Biden Administration fled Kabul and left European nationals behind for the Euro countries to extract themselves that the Europeans would have been a little more circumspect the next time the US government asked them to join it on its latest foreign policy endeavor.

That they haven't learned to address the obvious question (What happens if this is another stupid idea that doesn't work?) is nobody's fault but their own.

Due to the energy crisis, the British will be banned from cooking until eight in the evening and pubs will only work until nine. People will be prohibited from using washing machines, dishwashers and ovens between 2pm and 8pm. Pubs will turn off lights at 9pm and last orders will be taken at 8.30pm

Take THAT, Putin!!, scream the Zeepers.

He was, and so were those who voted for him.

Perot was our first real glimpse of the Deep State, before Trump totally tore the mask off.

Perot was doing too well, threatening to actually get elected instead of their fair-haired rapist.

So, they threatened him and his family to get him out long enough to take his numbers down, then let him back in in time to finish off Grabby Poppy Bush.

Europe needs a revitalized Marshal Plan focusing on oil and especially natural gas from the United States

Are you volunteering to pay for the increases in our domestic gasoline, natural gas and food bills that your proposal will cause?

I'll send you the overages on my bills.

True; but I think the EU, NATO farmed out international policy to the U.S. long ago. They no longer formulate national policy which is probably a good thing since this crop is without doubt some of the most stupid, ideological light weights Europe has ever had.

They are elitist globalists who have bought into the new world order, one central government; totally out of touch with reality and now scared to death that everything is falling apart. But, too afraid of the consequences if they change failed policies so just keep doubling down hoping that the U.S. is right and soon Putin/Russia will collapse.

While I agree with the first part, it’s a tough call for me on the second part, which means helping to elected Clinton over Bush Sr. Difficult to tell, other than things would be far different in the country, and the world, if Bush Sr. won...maybe better, maybe not.

Our first real glimpse of the Deep State really running things.

They let Perot get close to crimp Poppy Bush's numbers, then threatened him behind the scenes to get him to "wig out" for long enough to bring his numbers back down to a manageable level, to slide their boy Bill in.

No need then for the EU to pressure Ukraine into NOT destroying all those easy pipeline targets. Time to send the Russian economy back to cockles and booze.

Pretty funny. The euros announced to the gas station that they won’t pay the posted price. Gas station said “no gas for you!”
