Friday afternoon, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a report of a visitor who fell from the rim west of the Bright Angel Point Trail on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, KTLA sister station KTVX reports.
Responding rangers located the body of a 44-year-old man approximately 200 ft. below the rim. The visitor was reportedly off the trail when he accidentally fell off the edge.
The man has not yet been identified, and additional details have not yet been released.
Rangers say visitors should remain on designated trails and walkways, staying a safe distance from the edge of the rim.

Don'tcha just hate it when that happens?
ROFL. I love the macabre humor on this site.
They have recovered the selfie and some say it really is spectacular and worth it.
One of the best scenes in the movie.
We used to refer to those as “Texas Tourist stops” because it seemed like lots of folks from Texas just wanted to see all the points they were “supposed” to see, take a quick pic and drive on to the next one.
Nothing very remarkable.
Last name was Swint.
I have a healthy respect ( fear) for heights.
So my visit to the Canyon’s edge was from many feet away……
The gift shop actually has a window directly overlooking the edge……that was fine enough for me.
At the North rim you are at about 9,000 feet of altitude, which can affect your balance and judgment.
If he had covid 2 years ago, it will be put down as a death due to covid.
What was the cause of death? Covid-19?
Only a matter of time until it is all cordoned off.
For the greater good, of course.
Who would have thought there would be ice at a trailhead?
In 1966 my family went on a camping vacation out west and back in a brand new Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, including the seven members of our family, my Sister's girlfriend and our Grandmother. We saw the Grand Canyon and it was as hot as it could be at the edge of the overlook. Mom and my Grandma cooked supper, washed the dishes and we went to sleep in the tent. We got up the next morning and the washcloth Mom had draped over something to dry was frozen as stiff as a board.
I camped out in the high desert some miles east of the GC in summer of 1976. I don’t think I have ever been as cold as I was that night. I had a light sleeping bag rated for 35 or 40 F and it didn’t do a thing to warm me. It gets REALLY cold up there.
Oh, he probably suffered a lot less then. < /Vax whore>
I remember some people pulling up to a local viewing spot, taking a picture through the windshield, and leaving.
He’ll never do that again. And why did he do that (get on the edge) in the first (and last) place?
You’ll get that.
Did he have a recent booster shot?
LOL
