The release of the FBI's Mar-a-Lago affidavit could further damage Trump's defense, legal experts say

Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly and publicly called for the release of an FBI affidavit that formed the basis of the bureau's search of his Mar-a-Lago club and private residence. On Thursday, a federal judge granted Trump's request, ordering the release of a redacted version of the affidavit.

But legal and national-security experts say the former president should be careful what he wishes for and that the document's release could land him in more hot water.

Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart ruled that the Justice Department must file a redacted version of the affidavit to the public docket by noon ET on Friday. But he agreed to keep under seal parts of the affidavit that could reveal:

The identities of witnesses, law enforcement personnel, and uncharged parties

The strategy, direction, and scope of the department's investigation into Trump's handling of government documents

Sources and methods

Grand jury information

But even with those redactions, experts say, the document could still reveal key information about events leading up to the FBI's unprecedented search of the former president's home that could be damaging to him.

John Dean, who served as Richard Nixon's White House counsel and later became the star witness in Congress' Watergate investigation, told CNN that he "can't imagine that Trump is going to be happy with this document, given the fact it was an advocacy document written to persuade the judge to find probable cause to undertake a search."

The FBI's search warrant showed that investigators believed Trump may have violated three US laws, including the Espionage Act, when he moved government records from the White House to Mar-a-Lago upon leaving the presidency and then resisted turning them back over.

Would there be any news about Trump if all news that contained could and might was deleted?

“...given the fact it was an advocacy document written to persuade the judge to find probable cause to undertake a search.””

Well, yes, it will be smearing accusations, and with this FBI, DOJ, and MSM, an accusation is evidence.

The FBI, in order to stage an armed raid on an ex-president’s residence, would not swear out an affidavit using gentle praise.

So. “Experts” opinions on something which, to date, THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAD ACCESS TO OR READ.

That begs the questions, how? and why? did they get access (if we’re to believe their analyses).

That! begs the questions is for what purpose would DOJ or FBI give these “experts?” and how wouldn’t that surreptitious release to them not be partisan?

IMO, the “experts” can STFU.

Obsessively watching the news can make you mentally and physically sick!

Decades ago, I stopped subscribing to to the so called weekly/monthly news and the local SF area fishwraps. I even DCed my WSJ subscription due to their politics.

Then, my non political and yet conservative wife started pointing out the blood/gore and political B$ posing as news by the local tv channels. So, for over 2 decades, we don’t watch the local fake news shows.

About that time I stopped watching ABCNNBCBS fake news.

I still watched some so called Faux New$ until they called it for Biden before the votes were tallied in most of our country.

Even with FR, we have the 24/7 end of the world doomers and gloomers. So, their gloom and doom headlines are at the most scanned.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Keeping up with the latest news can be very bad for your health, according to a new study. Researchers at Texas Tech University found that Americans who obsessively follow the news are more likely to suffer from both physical and mental health problems, including anxiety and stress.

Those who constantly check the latest headlines end up with “significantly greater physical ill-being” than those who tune in less often, according to the findings. The team adds that constantly keeping on top of the latest developments can lead to a vicious cycle where people always check for more updates, rather than tuning out after a quick read.

This can start interfering with people’s personal lives, leaving them feeling powerless and distressed about global events including the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and climate change.

If this is true then why are they afraid to release it unredacted? They are going to selectively redact this thing to make Trump look bad.

Why is Trump asking for, or allowing, a redacted version?

The FBI will edit out everything that will help Trump and retain everything that will hurt him.

He should be on every news channel demanding the full unedited affidavit.

Instead, he does nothing.

As usual, we are right back in Q-world.

Trust the Plan - LOL!

We are way PAST any “Trump’s legal defense” inasmuch as the LEGALITY of the original “warrant” and affidavit to justify same...is completely Un-Constitutional, violating 1st, 4th and 5th Amendment.

The organization of the sub group of the so-called NSD Nat. Security Division of the DOJ (the one under investigation by the Special Counsel, Durham for the creation and faking of the FISA court “evidentiary” news articles created by a contractor for the Hillary campaign/foundation)— is a very large crew. We have a large group of dirty cops— possibly even corrupted themselves by the RUSSIAN FSB.

With the help of one Mr. Steele formerly of MI-6, who may have been given the job of protecting the the now-disgraced and removed from duties, Prince Andrew and his freaky former wife Fergie, close pals of Mossad owned Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein’s “wife” and pimp Mossad handler, now resides outside Tallahassee, FL in a minimum security fed country club, pretending to be scared she’ll be rubbed out- not with the deal she cooked to hide all the names. Names no doubt Trump and others in the real FBI, have in hand.

The release of the FBI's Mar-a-Lago affidavit could further damage Trump's defense, legal experts say

Then again, it could bolster his defense. Given the FBI's insistence that portions be redacted, my guess would be the latter.

The FBI has not been known for passing along exculpatory evidence to their targets.

How could Trump be so stupid as to call for something that would be damaging to him.

The answer: He is not that stupid. More Lib Propaganda. Or maybe Russian Disinformation. It’s hard to tell the difference.

If there was anything damaging to Trump, it would already have been leaked by the cheese-eating rats at the FBI.
