17 states follow California's emissions rules and will bank gasoline-powered cars by 2035

As you know, California is going to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars starting in 2035. Since 17 other states follow California's emissions rules, the impact is even greater. The states are NY, MA, VT, ME, PA, CT, RI, WA, OR, NJ, MD, DE, CO, MN, NV, VA, NM. Bloomberg article: California Finalizes Details on Banning Gas-Powered Car Sales

If you live in one of those states, spread the word that a ban on gasoline-powered cars is coming, and ask your state representatives where they stand. Biden's release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to reduce gasolince prices shows that people who drive are a big constituency. (Biden did not fix anything long term of course. When the SPR is filled back up that will push up oil and gasoline prices.)

The OP needs to clarify-—these states followed the “clean air act”-—PA did so in 2001. This is not outlawing gasoline cars.

States that have Adopted California’s Vehicle Standards
under Section 177 of the Federal Clean Air Act
The States listed below have adopted California’s Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) criteria
pollutant and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission regulations and Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV)
regulations under Section 177 of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. §7507) beginning with the model
year (MY) as shown below. Table current as of May 13, 2022.

I live in PA. and have not heard a thing about this.

Is your current governor acting unilaterally (and illegally)?

Congress doesn’t have rights. It has powers delegated to it under the Constitution.

My pickup will be the modern Red Barchetta in the barn. But the “giants” will be electric and will poop out shortly, I don’t need to find a narrow bridge to get away.

This will define a good dividing line for the upcoming civil war.

Those who control those listed states are enemies to real Americans. They MUST be ousted from office. Their madness to use climate, ecology and scare tactics to gain/keep power over real Americans who actually pay taxes, abide by the law and want a better America HAVE to be stopped.

Their goal is not to stop climate pollution from petroleum and other supports and make you move to unsupportable ‘electric’ living but to make you COMPLY and be happy with DOING WITHOUT.

‘They’ would no more want to live like they want YOU to live than they’d slit their own throats. ‘They’ think they’ll be the privileged ones who get to rise above their mandates.

The Bloomberg article says the 17 other states typically follow California’s air quality standards.

What happens to all the mechanics, auto parts stores employees, gasoline station employees, oil field workers, RV dealers etc?
As Ronld Reagan said regarding one of the democratic proposals when he was President. “Looney Tunes”. (Don’t know which one he was referring to there were so many).

Ever read what happens to the range of electric vehicles when it’s cold? Minnesota is in for a big surprise.

To be quiet honest lawmakers just cannot have technical or scientific experience. Anyone who’s just done even casual study of energy realizes what they are trying to do won’t work with current technology.

These will be entertaining:

NY, MA, VT, ME, PA, CT, NJ, CO, and MN

When that old mercury refuses to get above ten degrees for a few days straight, the residents of those states will hear The Sounds Of Silence on their roads.

This is what happens when children are “elected” to leadership positions in American government.

Thanks.

Hopefully Youngkin and your state legislators can reverse whatever was passed and signed off on previously.

A loan on a product that loses value faster than the loan is paid off is insane unless you keep the car 15-20 years.

And every car loan does that. Car loans are the road to ruin.

I live in one of those states. Fortunately for me, I drive a coal-powered car. So I think I’ll be okay.

In all seriousness, this stupid ban is going to be hard to stop in my state. The big cities have most of the votes. They are a combination of welfare cases and urban yuppies. And the working class votes D just because grandfather voted D. Only another Reagan can fix this.

Good luck with that. If you pay Federal taxes, you’re doing business with Virginia, whether you want to or not.

Midwest looks pretty safe so far. Only the brain frozen of minnesota trying to be like woke.

No state is safe.

When 18 states ban the sale of gas-powered cars, no auto company will continue making them.
