It was the first liftoff for Ingenuity in more than two months.
NASA's Ingenuity helicopter now has 30 Martian flights under its belt.
The 4-pound (1.8 kilograms) Ingenuity took to the skies on Saturday (Aug. 20) for the first time in more than two months, acing a short hop that was its 30th overall Red Planet sortie.
Ingenuity had been grounded since June 11, through no fault of its own. It's winter at the helicopter's locale, the 28-mile-wide (45 kilometers) Jezero Crater, and the solar-powered Ingenuity isn't getting enough sunlight to keep its batteries charged both day and night, mission team members wrote in a recent blog post(opens in new tab).

For her next flight, can we hope for more interesting terrain?
It was chasing a black martian around
Wouldn’t it be due for an oil change after the first 140 million miles?
The locale needs its own Face on Mars but then again, Ginny *is* the face of Mars.
She's the only one up there with a bird's eye view.
Maybe her detractors should have taken a hint after all those shadow 'selfies' kept rolling in. Hah.
So pretty!
Thanks.
People need to know!
Nothing to see here, just move along..
The helicopter that could.
Congrats to the team that designed, built and tested it.
Waitβ¦.NASA admits green energy isnβt reliable??
Amen.
They don't call Ginny "MRS HELICOPTER" for nothing.
Ginny (nick for a Virginia) flew in and replaced the Scarlet Letter A of the iconic NASA worm font.
A fig. tree, because back then they left out the punctuation:
John 1
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
Now *that's* Ingenuity. Fly higher!
(Proof that there's someone for everyone... even rough and tumble Mars, famous for war. Mars, the symbol for every man.)
Gotta say-I love me some Martian helicopter! What a grand achievement...:)
Don’t be an idiot.
Flying an electric helicopter on Mars is at least as remarkable as landing boosters on Earth.
People make fun of the “silly” names that the peeps at NASA/JPL give to these gizmos on Mars, yet...
it is amazing what can be accomplished when mankind accepts and works *with* the natural order of the universe, God’s laws.
Ingenuity is all about transcending business as usual, by taking a close look at the “limitations” of physics and then extracting the higher order of operations.
Contrast with the sure-fail “progressive” methodology of making stuff up and demanding conformity to lies.
Go Ginny, Go Go Go!
Plus, I always smile at the cute adjectives that writers come up with to described the Mars Helicopter.
Brave, plucky, spunky... π
