A 33-year-old man is dead after he was fatally struck by a car when he ran into traffic chasing after a dog.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon in Kingsport, Tennessee -- about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville -- when the Kingsport Police Department Traffic Unit responded to a call regarding a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian as it travelled north on Lynn Garden Drive, authorities said.

It is unclear if the dog belonged to Johnson or what the circumstances were surrounding the incident and how the dog managed to get loose in the first place.

Some days you’re the windshield, some days you’re the bug.

Just last week, I witnessed a man jump out of his car at the biggest intersection in town to chase down his dog who had jumped out when he saw another dog.

Dog was successful and so was the man.

Sometimes, you have to remember, it’s a dog, not a human toddler out there. It will be an experience the dog will always remember, provided he survives the lesson.

Identity of the driver of the Honda not disclosed. I remember a time when accidents were reported, readers were given the names and ages of all parties involved. The selective naming they do now tells me something’s up. Like maybe the driver was Muslim? And the media doesn’t want anyone to know it? For fear of retaliation? Remember the Islamic faith has no regard for dogs whatsoever. Just sayin’.

Either he reacted without noticing the car, or he believed the car had enough space to stop in time.

So many sad stories result from split-second reactions and some bad luck.

Poor guy. One impulsive, emotional mistake and he paid dearly for it. May he Rest In Peace.

Pray for the driver. He/She will live with this for the rest of their life, as will their family. Pray that He/She has good insurance and a really good defense lawyer. It doesn’t matter that the deceased is at fault, slip and fall ambulance chasing lawyers are plentiful - just watch TV.

It was reported in later articles.. It may have not been known at the writing of the posted article.

The pedestrian was identified as Gordon Gale Johnson, 33, of Kingsport.

I believe every lawyer in the country is currently focused on Camp Lejeune.

I drove by there once, I wonder if I’m “entitled” to compensation.
