The TWA 800 Whistleblower Is Legit

In the past few weeks, I have received numerous inquiries about ten-year Navy veteran William Henry Teele III. After years of quietly providing information to me and other investigators into the July 1996 destruction of TWA Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island, Teele has gone public and is naming names.

I shared some of Teele’s information in my 2016 book, TWA 800: The Crash, The Cover-Up, The Conspiracy. Teele did not claim to be on the ship that fired the missile. He was on the USS Carr, a guided missile frigate that was one of the “combatants” in the battle group that destroyed the unfortunate 747 and killed the 230 souls on board. Everything that I could verify about Teele’s account back then checked out.

In the six years since, Teele has reached out to many of his fellow sailors and fleshed out his account. Although he has appeared on several podcasts in recent weeks, his uninterrupted narrative on the Duke Report is the most compelling. I would welcome those with relevant experience to contact me through my website, cashill.com, to offer your assessment of Teele’s account or to provide additional information. My research suggests Teele is the real deal but I remain open, as all journalists should, to contrary information.

In the way of background, Teele joined the Navy in 1994. In 1996, according to his Navy transcript, he was serving as a “seaman apprentice” receiving advanced training in “specialized Navy occupations.” Teele’s training went well enough that in 1998 he was made an “operations specialist,” one who, “operates radar and associated equipment; identifies and maintains a display (plot) of the movement of ships, aircraft, missiles, and natural objects detected by observing a radar.” In 1999, he was made an instructor...

I like that approach. And it shouldn’t take huge money to perform the experiment, either.

This is all so tiresome. I do believe TWA800 was taken down by a missile, but am 100 percent convinced it did NOT come from a U.S. Navy vessel. I served aboard USS NORMANDY, as an officer, not a seaman apprentice like this “whistle-blower” who served on CARR. I hasten to add my service on NORMANDY ended three years before TWA800, but I personally know officers and men who were on board at the time the airliner went down. There are numerous holes in the whistle-blower’s story, and the biggest to me is the alleged order to destroy the evidence and to invoke a cover-up demanding the silence of every officer and sailor in that group of ships. It is a laughable and ludicrous allegation for anyone with a modicum of understanding of how the Navy, especially the Surface Navy, operated at that time.

I don't believe the navy could cover that up even if they wanted to do so, and I don't think the men manning those ships would be so dishonorable as to cover up an accidental missile attack if one had happened.

The victims of TWA800 deserve justice, but the Navy hypothesis is a dead end, and energy would be better spent exploring more plausible explanations.

I know someone who was in a position to know certain information about the incident, and this person has told me that Bill Clinton did indeed order a coverup and destruction of evidence. This person tells me that this person did indeed personally see to the destruction of evidence of a missile strike on the aircraft.

This person also informs me the perpetrators were former Iranian "Republican Guard" mercenaries hired by the a wealthy Iranian family to get revenge for the shooting down of Iran air flight 655 by the USS Vincennes.

Bill Clinton ordered the coverup because this was an election year and if the public found out that elements of Iran's Republican guard were involved, the public would scream for retaliation. The air industry would be devastated by panic, and supposedly the European leadership begged him to cover it up.

I wish I could say who told me this, what position they held at the time, and what the nature of the evidence was, but just telling what the nature of the evidence was would very likely get this person in trouble, and I promised I would not reveal who this person is or what was the nature of the evidence described.

The Carr may have had the Aegis data via a data link in its CIC.

I served on both FFG-7 class and CG-47 class ships. The story sounds like the fragments a junior operations specialist might pick up.

This is a reasonable possibility—given the political environment of the times.

The only question I would have about it would be why would the Iranians not brag about their success—they loved issuing press releases attacking the “Great Satan”.

If Clinton and the Europeans wanted to cover it up that would be even a better reason for bragging about it.

From what I’ve seen, TWA Flight 800 was flying far below its normal altitude at that point in its flight that night — to make way for a northbound flight into Providence, Rhode Island that was running behind schedule. A terrorist wouldn’t have known this in advance when plotting an attack using a surface-to-air missile.

Neither would people running a live fire drill expecting an incoming threat from an unknown direction at a far below normal flight path. They might assume it was spoof squawking with a commercial transponder as a surprise countermeasure.

Seems I remember the USS Vincennes mistaking an Iranian airliner for an inbound fighter jet, about 2 years earlier. Perhaps exactly 2 years in the mohammedan calendar?

I am told that the Iranian government had no role in it, and they were scared sh*tless that they would have been thought to have been involved in it.

They talk loud in public, but the idea that the US would be coming after them for blood is something they very much don't want to see. The 1991 gulf war showed them how fast we could wipe out another country's army. They fought Iraq for years and only achieved a stalemate.

We would mop the floor with them and they knew it.

Iran absolutely does not want to be our enemy in a war.

I don’t know what is possible on a navy ship if Murphy’s Law kicks in

Inconceivable!

It is all possible—I also remain a bit baffled why .gov would still hold the coverup if it was a non state actor all those years ago...

There really would be no need for the coverup to continue after the Clinton years were over....

Where would these terrorists be where the authorities couldn’t detect and seize them?

At the time, a suspicious radar track, known as the "30 knot track" was one of six unidentified boats in the area of the debris field. What made the "30 knot track" stand out was the fact that it was the only track moving AWAY from the accident site, while all the other traffic was rushing towards the site.

Here are some data from the time:

The Flight 800 Investigation: Analysis of Islip Primary Radar for TWA 800

exhibit13A-IV-5.pdf - TWA 747 Out of JFK, July 17, 1996 Radar Data Overhead View From 20:30 - 20:50

FBI Witness Triangulation of Possible MANPADs “shooter locations” From Witness Form 364

Exhibit 16 - Triangulation of Witness Bearing Lines - Cmdr William S. Donaldson - USN Ret.

The theory at the time was this was an Iranian retaliation for the shoot-down of the Iranian passenger jet by the USS Vincennes. If I had to venture a guess as to why "authorities couldn’t detect and seize them," it would because they didn't want to. Bill Clinton was struggling with handling the TWA 800 catastrophe, and 10 days later the Centennial Olympic Park bombing occurred where the FBI initially pinned it on Richard Jewell just to get it off of the headlines.

The Clinton administration was in full damage-control mode to keep this from becoming an issue about Clinton's leadership just three months before the election.

Admitting to a coverup undermines trust in government. That is the last thing that government wants people to believe.

Also, can you imagine the outrage if they found out the aircraft was taken down by Iranian terrorists? And that Bill Clinton covered it up?

Who else (besides me) saw the ‘cocktail party’ video?

I saw it only once and it was removed from the air and never shown again.

It showed a small group of people talking at a cocktail party on an outdoor bar, near the water. All of a sudden, in the background, a point of light shoots UPWARDS from the ground, and explodes at a point in the air, which was TWA800.

Instead of acknowledging it as a training error, they covered it up.

This was during Clinton’s terms so you gotta wonder who was on the plane that they needed gone.

Thank you, but save it for those who volunteer. In those days, men HAD to serve. This was before the lottery numbers and before Nam got cooking. Granted, I volunteered for the Navy Reserve, but that was because I didn’t want to play in the mud. Every man had a six year military obligation to the country. There were several different ways that obligation could be met. I chose the USNR. Without that bomb in my wallet that said I was 1-A, which could go off at any time, I doubt I would have signed up.

“Center fuel tank explosion”

What a crock of s***.

More proof that our government lies and abuses our citizens.

We’ve been worse than a banana republic for decades. We’re too stupid or complacent to care.

Who will ever clean this up?

It has been both. President Trump tried and they , Republicans and Democrats fought him from the second he announced until now.He fought alone and every ally he thought he had including Traitor in Chief, Mike Pence stabbed him in the back. At least Judas Iscatiott told the truth. Traitor Pence did not even do that. But he has his defenders on FR.
