The husband of the California dermatologist who allegedly poisoned him with Drano made up the story to gain custody of their kids.
45-year-old Yue “Emily” Yu was arrested recently after her husband claimed she poisoned him with Drano. Jack Chen claimed Emily constantly spiked his lemonade with the chemical. He even documented his wife pouring Drano into his drinks on three separate occasions.
“The idea that my client, who is a 45-year-old well-respected dermatologist in Orange County, would destroy her life, destroy her children’s lives and try to kill her husband is just completely absurd and untrue, and for that matter defamatory,” attorney David Wohl says.
However, on Friday, Emily was released on bail and was not charged with any crimes. According to Emily’s lawyer, the video Chen recorded was not what it seemed. Apparently, Emily was using the Drano to unclog the sink pipes. In the videos, Emily poured the chemical into an empty cup to avoid splashing.
“Anytime she poured Drano into a cup, it was completely empty,” the lawyer said. “It was for facilitating use in the sink or any other part of the house that was clogged as far as the drainage goes.”
Wohl argued that Chen created the false narrative with hopes of divorcing Emily and gaining custody of their two children.

Thanks!
Weird!
Prosecute him
How did they know one way or another? If he did this he should be charged.
I don’t know. This story is weird.
I also don’t know why someone would pour Drano into a cup before pouring it down a drain. Then again, I don’t use Drano.
The video showed plain as day she was pouring that into his drink
I think this is her lawyer giving his opinion or conjecture of what happened.
As of now, I don’t believe the husband has changed his original story.
Whatever the truth is, I would not want her cooking up any of my medications.
His lawyer sez/her lawyer sez. See you in court.
Not buying it.

According to the article:
“However, on Friday, Emily was released on bail and was not charged with any crimes.”
Am I missing something? That doesn’t seem to make sense. If she wasn’t charged, how could she be required to post bail?
I’ve had a busy week. Saw the story and concerns were rattling in the back of my head. The narrative is that of cumulative poisoning, but this stuff is really caustic and I’d expect mouth or throat burns right away. The article below talks about results of Drain cleaner poisoning.
That said, the pouring into a cup doesn’t make any sense. All the brands come with low splash formulas. If you were concerned about safety and wanted to pour it into a cup, why wouldn’t you do it in the sink?
None of this makes any sense

It didn’t make sense that a dermatologist would use such a crude poison as Draino. Dermatologists tend to graduate at or near the top of their medical school classes. Dermatology residencies are very competitive. I would think a dermatologist would be able to come up with something much more sophisticated.
Who pours Drano into a cup?! There’s a lot of he said/she said. What happened to the cup after she poured Drano into it?
That is what I do. That is how I measure the amount needed.
To avoid splashback. It tends to glug out of the container and it’s also harder to pour directly into the drain from a large bottle. I usually measure it into a glass measuring cup to treat the drains.
Wow.

Just watched the whole video on YouTube, she is guilty as sin. She takes the Drano over to the kitchen table and pours it into a coffee cup on the table then puts the lid in the drano and walks away. She went out of her way to pour the drano into a coffee cup far from the sink where the drano is stored.

She was caught on video 3 times doing this not just once. One the videos he sets the cup down with wrapping protecting the drink in the cup. She goes over with red jug in hand remove the wrap pours a small amount of the chemical in then RECOVERs the wrap on the drink. He comes in and drinks it. His attorney says there is NO chance it was accident they have video of her doing it 3 times. She was poisoning him with small amounts of that each time.

Can’t explain away the video recordings lady. Nice try…
It was believable because there have been many many women serial killers that did their deed by slowly poisoning their victims.
