I don’t know. This story is weird.
I also don’t know why someone would pour Drano into a cup before pouring it down a drain. Then again, I don’t use Drano.
That is what I do. That is how I measure the amount needed.
To avoid splashback. It tends to glug out of the container and it’s also harder to pour directly into the drain from a large bottle. I usually measure it into a glass measuring cup to treat the drains.

Just watched the whole video on YouTube, she is guilty as sin. She takes the Drano over to the kitchen table and pours it into a coffee cup on the table then puts the lid in the drano and walks away. She went out of her way to pour the drano into a coffee cup far from the sink where the drano is stored.

She was caught on video 3 times doing this not just once. One the videos he sets the cup down with wrapping protecting the drink in the cup. She goes over with red jug in hand remove the wrap pours a small amount of the chemical in then RECOVERs the wrap on the drink. He comes in and drinks it. His attorney says there is NO chance it was accident they have video of her doing it 3 times. She was poisoning him with small amounts of that each time.

Can’t explain away the video recordings lady. Nice try…
As the story said, to prevent it from splashing, which it often does if you pour it directily into a clogged drain with standing water in it.
I found this out the hard way and burned spots on the skin on my hands. Glad it didn't splash up into my eyes.
